2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClueless voters prefer Congress in Republican hands--yet overwhelmingly trust Dems on the issues!
President Obama and the Dems have their work cut out for them in the mid-terms. President Obama must lead the way and speak frankly to the American people about what is at stake in November. Too many voters obviously do not understand what is at stake.
Emphasis mine.

Democrats face serious obstacles as they look to the November elections, with President Obamas approval rating at a new low and a majority of voters saying they prefer a Congress in Republican hands to check the presidents agenda, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Where Democrats have the biggest advantages are on the same contrasts that helped Obama win reelection in 2012 indicators of which party voters believe is on their side. By 52 to 32 percent, those surveyed say they trust Democrats to do a better job helping the middle class, and by 55 to 25 percent, they trust Democrats on issues that are especially important to women.

(24,324 posts)In cases where, in general, republicans 'supported' or 'would vote for' republicans, when given the stances of republicans and democrats on actual issues they strongly supported democratic stances.
The lazy, willful ignorance is blinding.
Maybe instead of having candidates names to vote for, it should be a list of stances on issues... humm.....

(14,563 posts)just hard to fathom ...
HTF this country continuously finds ways to overlook just how horrendously bad the republican party is and continue to vote for republicans.
in 2009, there was A LOT of crowing around here about how the republican party was dead ... After 2010 I have been the wet towel on anything like that, cause it was a very sobering moment in this country's history.
NO reason, none at all to give them any power, and it was one of the biggest congressional wins in modern history for them.
It really is hopeless.

(2,004 posts)If we work hard enough and get out the vote this November, we will win. These stories are to suppress voting. It is corporate marketing. They are trying to manipulate the votes to keep the GOP in power in Congress. The villagers like divided government, because it is something easy to talk about. Their corporate masters make tons of money by keeping the GOP crooks in power. It works well for them. Does not work for real people.
The right wing grifters are very afraid, because people are waking up. The voter suppression and gerrymandering have worked well, but those tactics usefulness are coming to an end. The outrageous racist crap is still effective for a lot of older people, but those folks are disappearing very quickly. 2014 is the last shot for the GOP to keep in place corporate welfare. Thus, we are seeing lots of criticism of President Obama about the Ukraine and Syria(as if Obama had any other options than doing exactly what he is doing), because the ACA is proving to be very popular very quickly. The news media hardly made a peep when Russia took over so much territory from Georgia during the shrub's time in office. The Medicaid expansion refusal tactic is already backfiring on the GOP. Here in Ohio, Kasich saw the handwriting on the wall and expanded it for only 2 years, so he could try to get reelected and then run for president. Then they will throw people back under the bus once he becomes president. That plan should fail as Kasich should not get reelected.

(21,130 posts)We need to remind voters what republican rule would mean. There own livelihoods would be destroyed these rethugs want to do away with minimum wages, destroy public education and make it impossible to afford college. This sounds like a repeat of 2010 with the media already conceding the election to the rethugs. The party who shut down the government because of the AcA. We have to strike the fear in these voters as to what the rethugs are all about and what they have in store for us and it's not good.
