Hillary Clinton yes, no, maybe....

At the risk of starting something I have a question...

When Obama and Hillary were fighting it out in the primaries I was not supporting Hillary.
Now years later it looks like she is in the same place she was then, the presumptive nominee.
I still have misgivings about her and her candidacy. I know there are many here who support her.

My concerns about her are #1 the circus the rw will make out of the election if she is the candidate .
I don't want to hear another thing about Bill and what he did or didn't do in private. I don't want to feel
like I've fallen into an alternate universe where twiddle dum and twiddle dee are the norm. #2 I was very
impressed with Hillary as SoS. I think she did great work but I think her instincts are to make war, her
hawkishness has always been a problem for me. Does this concern you?

I'm not saying if she is the candidate I will not support her...I would rather cut off my hands than vote republican for anything.
If she is nominated I will support her, but I would like there to be other choices with similar experience but less militaristic.

I was going to create a pole but I'm apparently not a star member??? What ever that is.

Jim Webb

And that's my order of preference. I will support whoever is nominated, but as you can see there are half a dozen choices at least that seem better than Hillary to me.

Sherrod Brown: not running; doesn't WANT to run (I know; I asked)
Kristen Gillibrand: not running; won't run if Hillary runs
Martin O'Malley: running, but I have inside information that, if Hillary runs, this will be a "friendly" campaign
Brian Schweitzer: running, and will be my choice if Hillary doesn't run
Deval Patrick: not running; WANTS to run but is smart enough to know he's not going to get elected in 2016
Hillary Clinton: not running but thinking about it; all of my sources say she'll end up running
Andrew Cuomo: not running but following the Chris Christie approach of getting re-elected by a large margin to preserve his options
Mark Warner: not running but thinking about it
Jim Webb: not running but thinking about it; ultimately won't

I mean, you seem to have a good grasp of English -- everything in your post is correctly spelled, for example -- so I'm guessing you're basically literate and could read my post. So you you should have been able to grasp that I was discussing who among Dems with national profiles I would prefer, regardless of their own intentions. I mean, that was pretty clear, wasn't it?

Anyway, looking forward to a future exchange where I say I would have preferred it if Humphrey had beaten Nixon in '68, and you post the actual vote count and then explain the current impossibility of time travel. That will be a fun discussion, too.

6. I think Hillary Clinton is enormously well-qualified to be President.

That alone would inspire me to vote for her.

There is a lot of opposition to her from the left, as well as the right. People who are worried that she is too far to the right and in bed with corporations. And of course, to right-wingers, anybody to the left of Atilla the Hun is a filthy communist.

As far as the opposition from the left goes, as far-left as I am myself politically, I can see the value of governing from the center. Not to mention the fact that any candidate running as an out-and-out liberal doesn't have a prayer of winning the election. And if our avowed candidate doesn't win, then it really doesn't matter what we want from a Democratic President.

A lot of powerful people know this country needs to change course for the survival of mankind. I respect her intelligence and believe that her positions on certain issues can evolve, as well. We don't stand much of a chance without her strength, intelligence, and the congress to cover her back.

We should not chose a candidate based on how we think the GOP will react. We should never let them define us. The Republicans will smear, slime and denigrate whoever we run. It's what they do.

I doubt I will ever see my perfect candidate so I will not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. For me, it's all about the Supreme Court. This conservative court has done a lot of damage and if a Republican president gets to fill the next couple of vacancies we will be screwed for decades.

So I'll vote for Clinton.

She seems very conservative. Second, not a fan of legacy in politics where Bush sons get jobs Clinton is another president.
