Introducing a new character for DU: Normal Mitt.

Frank Rich raises questions about who is Romney and why is he just so strange which brings us to the picture above.

Normal Mitt.

Normal Mitt is running in a parallel universe. Normal Mitt has the same set of circumstances in life that our Mitt has but Normal Mitt has the normal gene so that when something goes wrong he responds, well normally.

For example, in the alternative universe when the Washington Post publishes a well documented story about young Normal Mitt assaulting a fellow gay classmate at an elite school this is how Normal Mitt responds:

I remember that incident and you know it has bothered me to this day. I am glad the story came out so that I can get it off my chest. Sometimes when we are young we can do really dumb things. I understand that John died a few years ago and I regret that I didn't have the chance to apologize to him personally. Well to all the other people who suffered a similar incident when they were boys or girls I would like to say I am sorry that they had to experience it. If you are experiencing it now, life will get better, and this is something that all Americans can agree on, we want to make sure that this is a country where this kind of thing just doesn't happen.

Now if our Mitt had said something like this it would have been a game changer.

Another example

One the Seamus story

Man when I was younger I was way too intense. Makes me shudder. Well that just shows you what happens when you get a really good life partner. I am glad that Anne helped me relax and not be so obsessive about tasks and schedules. Its not only been better for me, its been a helluva lot better for our dogs."

Normal Mitt would have been a nightmare to run against. Fortunately none of his campaign managers or script writers are anything near what a normal person is like and they don't even know what they sound like.

Feel free to add your own version of what a Normal Mitt would act like and sound like.

"I was given incredible advantages in my youth and early adulthood. Anne and I have never lacked anything, including healthcare. I worked hard, but I realize I started ahead of the pack. In these recent years, I realize that my actions at Bain Capital often cost hard-working Americans their jobs and livelihood."

"I am a Christian, and I completely believe in the philosophy embedded within my faith that, from those to whom much is given, much is expected."

"To that end, today we are putting to work the combined assets of the Romney blind trusts, trust funds, and hedge funds to capitalize and start-up an American manufacturing facility for high speed rail. The company will be located in Ohio and employ over 5000 American working men and women, including professionals, skilled and unskilled workers. We will model the corporate structure to resemble corporations in Germany, with organized labor holding 1/2 of the common stock and 1/2 of the seats on the board of directors. Of the other 1/2 of the board of directors, we will include local elected officials to maintain community input."
