Every Conservative needs to listen to this. I doubt if many know these facts. (Original Post) egbertowillies Jul 2014 OP

I can tell you with 1000 per cent accuracy the response would be "nothing you say is gonna change my mind." Not even facts. The don't have narrow minds, they have closed minds.

I live in San Antonio, and although metro areas tend to be more blue than rural, I come across these closed minds, as well.

It is much easier to just hate those that one is told to hate, rather than to have to actually THINK for themselves and figure out the facts.

I see it all the time down here.

and this is absolutely the case ...

I just do not get it.

I know complete jackass republicans.

But, a GOOD number of my friends are republicans. Most a decent people, smart, most are generous and kind ... But, their politics are absolutely entrenched in some way with republican ideology, and they are just as set in things, even in the face of their politics IMO being completely the opposite of what they are as people, as the jackasses.

Not much you can do other than not let it get in the way of your relationship, don't prod them, but instead model how one of those liberal scumbags actually can be like them - good, decent people. Best you can do to try to have them possibly see the disconnect.

Just ask Newtie, the "conservative intellectual and historian."

And us liberals, we don't care that some 7 year old is laying around the house when they could be bringing in a paycheck.

They're still opposed to most of these things. They didn't want to fight the Revolutionary War because they love authoritarian figures like Georgey III or
Georgey Boosh. They didn't want an end to slavery because they thought Africans were suited to be slaves only and we unfit to exist as equals.
Much has changed in America and the world, but some things never change.

You won't find conservatives bothering to listen learn and especially learn by history.

I once had a conversation with a conservative at work who was complaining about how the employers treat their workers but at the same time she was anti union. This is was not a high paying job either. Golden example of someone that votes against her/his own best interests.

I cannot understand how someone can call themselves a Democrat yet say 'well if Hillary is the 2016 nominee I will Not vote for her'
Its ridiculous to think that people on this, a site for Democrats, have the nerve to say well id rather see Ted Cruz win the election than vote for Hillary Clinton.....

WOW REALLY?

Hearing This Makes Me Absolutely Sick
