Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer sees Ted Cruz and Rick Perry as beatable in 2016

WASHINGTON – Dan Pfeiffer, a top White House strategist, says Democrats would love to face either of the Texans angling for the president’s job in 2016.

Asked to choose between Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. Rick Perry as a potential GOP nominee, Pfeiffer hardly missed a beat.

“That’s like would you rather have ice cream or cake?” he said over breakfast with reporters organized by The Christian Science Monitor.

Pfeiffer also said he’d been rooting for the GOP convention to go to Dallas, because it would have been so amusing to see how Cruz handled losing the nomination and then seeing the victor celebrated in his own state.

Rick Perry has a difficult time speaking the English language. I see him like GWB in that regard. But GWB had an entire "family" behind him plus the PNAC crowd. I don't see Perry as a viable candidate especially if the Democrats play the tapes from the 2012 race where he appeared drunk (NH or Vermont?) and where he stumbled over which federal departments he would eliminate.

Otherwise I think he could conceivably win over some Independents that have been turned off by what appears to be an often cold and calculating Obama. That might give him a chance to win.

Ted Cruz, on the other hand, has absolutely no chance. He is on the very fringe. His actions of triggering the government shutdown, his baseless and callous statements about the President and everything else make him unelectable. He thinks the GOP needs to be more conservative and not less but the reality is the American population is not there.

The state is realizing that it made a mistake with Carnival Cruz. Hopefully we can get either or both of Leticia and Wendy elected in the fall

5. GOP civil war

The civil war within the Republican party will work in our favor anyhow. The Tea Party has been a great blessing in disguise, with the way it continues to drive a wedge between the Republican base.

A common theme among GOP voters is the threat to either stay at home in 2016 or to vote third party. Libertarians don't want to vote for a social conservative, and traditional conservatives don't want to vote for a "RINO" who is seen as too soft on Democrats.

There is a good chance this civil war will result in a lower voter turnout for the GOP nominee. Make no mistake, we will still have to be in top form to ensure there are no slip ups on our side.

so that automatically makes him a citizen by birth.

Of course, you have birthers saying that Obama isn't a "natural born" citizen because they claim he was born in Kenya, despite the fact that his mother was an American citizen, thus making Obama an American citizen no matter where he was born. And Obama was actually born in Hawaii, which is an American state. Funny these birthers aren't making the same argument against Ted Cruz, who actually was born on foreign soil.

Even Scott Walker, the Great Koch Hope, doesn't have the chops for the national stage if he can't stay in the far right media zone.
