I watched on TV today for this but never saw it. McConnell's only point is he is against Obama. Not a single hint of what he will do for Kentucky. Even some of the red-shirted supporters in his crowd looked confused and disheartened during Grimes speech. If she can bring this enthusiasm state-wide she will win.

P.S. I hate to say this, because I know plenty of good thoughtful people who fit his description, but the guy in the red Mitch shirt in the background of the speakers is not a good visual symbol for the McConnell campaign.

Mitch loaded the crowd with Dowsers, the old style politics of the male water witching. Yes that red shirt really is what those who study science calls the familiar semiotic symbolism.

Semiology is the study of meaning-making, the theory of signs and symbols the philosophy. My own studies in imaging technology are part of the mathematics that connects vision and thought patterns. Matrix theories, Fourier theory, similar mathematics used in pole theories too.

They are all used with gerrymandering now done in a fancy farm picnic political show. We need more pictures of fancy farms. Always thought these people walk around like Daniel Boone wearing a coon skin cap. LOL. Alison just has to watch a few Boone movies or was it Davey Crockett. LOL

What stands out to me is Mitch’s wife, she is a beautiful Asian, likely his and her purse is loaded with that is needed to ride through life. Mitch is the puppet master of the red crowd the old style politics. Bait and switch, he knows how dam dumb his electorate is because they keep him going.

Mitch reminds me of the that old rusted out railroad car that has been sitting in a siding for thirty years as an eye sore, now there so long in Congress as the key player in obstructionism talking about world events when Kentucky needs new good paying technology jobs without being afraid of unions, Tennessee is not. What is needed is simple plain clean water organic farming stop dumping toxic stuff.

There are a lot of good paying improvements in the infrastructure that can be contracted to locals that has been under his control for decades.

When Bush* was establishing his cabinet, no one wanted Secretary of Labor. Whispers in Washington were that no one wanted the job because everyone knew what would be expected. Mitch tapped his wife for the spot.

A "distinguished fellow" at the Heritage Foundation, all of the changes in our labor laws, encouraging businesses to save money by not paying benefits to its employees, using cutting full-time jobs to part-time jobs as the tool with which to do this, encouraging at-will employment (legal discharge for no reason) were maneuvers she encouraged the business world to make. Today, our economy and our middle and poor class workers still suffer from the fingerprints Elaine Chau left on our labor market.

great writers and never missed a beat with all the rowdiness at that wrestling match. That kind of speechifying is almost a forgotten art in todays politics of the 5 second sound bite on a TV remote.

Since I am far removed from Kentucky, I have no idea how this was perceived there. As a Democrat, that was highly entertaining and qualifies as red meat. To a Republican, it was as maddening as we would expect it to be. But to an Independent this has the potential to be off putting. Was this the appropriate venue to deliver this speech? I could see this done at a state convention or a fundraiser, but not at an event where McConnell was in attendance.

She did not come across as senatorial in my view. To the unaware it looks as though she publicly beat up an old man who could not defend himself. But then again, McConnell comes off even less senatorial on a daily basis. Since he long ago threw down the gauntlet of demonizing Democrats, what goes around comes around, I guess.

I thought it rude that the crowd for McConnell booed the whole time, until I realized that this is the norm for this barn burner.

Quite entertaining, actually.

Edited to fix the typo.

I am not accusing you of being anti female, it is society that sees a woman who is strong and fights back as a "b" but a man who does it is perceived as a strong leader.

Just asking if the feeling would change with gender.
