From the Washington Times. Yes, really.
The mugging of America by a GOP president
By Drew Johnson - The Washington Times - Monday, August 11, 2014
The Republican National Committee is trying out a curious new fundraising tactic: Rewriting history. The organization is actually trying to convince Republican donors that George W. Bush was a principled conservative and a great president.
Maybe the people running the RNC have amnesia. Perhaps theyve managed to block out painful memories. Its even conceivable someone at the RNC raided the liquor cabinet and was three sheets to the wind when they crafted their latest fundraising pitch.
I will opine only to note that I hardly find this tactic "new."

These fuckwits laud Reagen as the gold standard for "conservatism" and he had the same basic what they could call "progressive leaning democrat" record - tax increases, amnesty, cut and run from Beurit, massive increase in the size of government and costs of government ...

Spreading the both parties are the same meme is a favorite tactic of GOP strategists, because they know it only hurts Democrats when it is believed.

(113,010 posts)Johnson sees distancing the party from Bush, who they supported wholeheartedly, just as much a 'tactic' as those at RNC who see glorifying Bush's tenure by rewriting history as a tactic.
This article is accurate in some respects then revises history, as well, while completely ignoring the simple fact that Republican party LOVES big government that works for the fewest at the expense of everyone else, while DEMs prefer government that works for the entire country, including to protect the most vulnerable among us.

Rewriting history keeps them from getting too puzzled about the media reports about Bush's infinite failures and incompetency.
