If the cons want another "police action" I want to see a draft with NO exceptions for the powerful

and/or wealthy. I want Romney's boys on the front line and the children of the powerful and wealthy. I'm getting really sick of the monied and powerful in this country.
One conservative woman complained when she heard about one of our soldiers complaining about the service said "well, he knew what he was getting into didn't he?". That is the stinking attitude of conservatives. If it wasn't for the poor serving she would probably be speaking Chinese or another language. I am begining to have a distaste for the wealthy....I can understand why the French finally did something about their "superiors".

1. A legislative demand for a full declaration of war, a tax levied to pay for it,

a comprehensive 'no-exceptions' draft, and a program of rationing of consumer goods.

All of these things will put the kibosh on any talk of war.

We love to go to war in this country. But we sure as hell hate paying for it...

You think the rich cares about a tax they can afford? I don't need any more taxes to prove a point to anyone.

'prove a point'. They were levied in order to pay for the war. And they still needed to sell billions of war bonds to help pay for the effort.

It would be a progressive, graduated tax, with the burden falling on the wealthy, who will benefit economically from the war in the form of defense industry contracts, and general market investment in those same defense industries. If there's a point to it, it's that, if the rich are going to gin up a war in order to reap massive profits, they are going to pay massive taxes for the privilege, and not incidentally, pay with a son or two like the rest of us.

After they've visited a few graves, they may lose their lust for all-war-all-the-time...

2. I oppose drafts in general, but if there were to be one

it should start by drafting those in their 40s and 50s first. My generation. The last people we should be sending off to die are those young people who had nothing to do with creating the chaos of war.

objections to war. They have been arming the police for this eventuality.
They would just take the tax money and send the draftees off to war and give protestors the occupy treatment - pepper spray, sound guns, home invasions, militant police - the works.
And the rich kids still would not go.

I don't want to see another draft for a war of convenience. No American has the moral authority to send a kid to fight in a war that is not in our national defense.
You are so removed from the thing you talk about that you chose to send someone you don't even know to die for your beliefs. That is wrong.

9. I am not talking about voluntarily joining the service.

I would like to see lots of paid types of service that a person could volunteer to join. Also tuition reimbursement and veteran type benefits should also be available to them.
I am against a draft. When you are drafted you don't have the desire to join a military like a volunteer has. You have to turn draftees into the killers you need for your war. I never really accepted the military as my job. I fought to keep alive not for our country or for freedom.
