Politics Done Right on KPFT - Wendy Davis was written off much too early

For too long local Democrats have been whispering concerns about Wendy Davis’ real chances of winning the Texas governorship. Republicans and national leaders of both parties all but discounted her.

After-all, Greg Abbot was over 50% in most polls. Funny thing has happened. Greg Abbott has fallen under 50%. Most importantly, all the groundwork that Wendy Davis, Battleground Texas, and other local groups have been doing is probably not yet reflected in the polls because nobody is following these new voters.

.....are largely the same ones who wish to create an aura of inevitability around Abbott. I realize that the hard-core conservative base is going to vote for him, but IMHO everyone else is up for grabs.

Abbott is really a piece of work and every time he opens his mouth he does his campaign a little more damage. His alignment with Perry on the Medicaid/ACA issue is going to cost him. The continual assault on a woman's right to an abortion is going to cost him.

As a Texan, I would definitely not write Wendy Davis off.

I really do hope she wins. Not only because we need a D governor there, but also one that is a woman.
