Well, that's Politco's take on Mitt's speech. Expect the ads to be somewhat less subtle
Standing under a brilliant orange Florida sunset, Romney delivered his longest sustained critique of the South Carolina primary winner to date ticking through a list as if he were reading off Gingrichs Wikipedia page, and undercutting each item as he got to it.
Over the last 15 years since he left the House, he talks about great bold movements and ideas, he told the crowd of several hundred people gathered at a building materials company here. Well, whats he been doing for 15 years? Hes been working as a lobbyist, yeah, hes been working as a lobbyist and selling influence around Washington. ...
Were not choosing a talk show host, all right? Were choosing a leader, were choosing the person who should be the leader of the free world, Romney said.

(17,493 posts)and on a news clip just before the South Carolina primary he looked desperate.
The Republican establishment wants Mitt to win the nomination as he is one of the 1%. Unfortunately he lacks charisma and ideas. He reminds me of a younger Bob Dole. He is and has been a loser. The only reason Newt won in SC is that he is the not Romney.
I believe that Obama will beat either Newt or Mitt, but Newt would run the more interesting campaign. The debates will attract far more viewers if Newt is in them.

(135,425 posts)I have an odd habit of listening to tone, watching facial expressions and studying body language when I watch people on the television (and in real life, too). I have a pretty good track record of sussing out stress and strain, and IMO, that guy is two handholds from the end of his rope.
Earlier he was terrified of making a mistake, I think. Now he's crapping that his failure to be bold has allowed Newt--who is on a bloodlust-revenge-fest against Mittsy-- to overtake him.
If Mittsy has a Paris Hilton/Kardashian style video of Newt in flagrante delicto, he'd better think about releasing it soon. He has to crush Newtie, or meet him on the convention floor.
