Rep. Mike Honda attacks Ro Khanna as race tightens

With his 20-point June primary lead dwindling, Rep. Mike Honda of San Jose is going on the attack against his opponent, fellow Democrat Ro Khanna of Fremont.

Honda’s new television ad hit the airwaves this week, slamming Khanna as the tool of the “billionaires, right-wing activists (and) corporate interests” who the incumbent says are funding his campaign.

“With Ro Khanna, it’s all about the money and never about us,” the narrator intones....

“It’s reasonable to think this thing has tightened,” he said. “With two Democrats in the race, there’s no place for the Republicans to go, and it’s logical to expect Khanna to pick up most of them, since he’s more conservative than Honda.”

This is exactly what Abel Maldonado was hoping for when he held the state budget hostage a few years ago and demanded this bizarre top-two system be placed on the ballot: DINOs like Khanna replacing real Dems like Honda in districts where repukes have about as much chance of winning as the Taliban.
