If it is any consolation......

....McConnell's going to run into the same thing in the senate that Boner has in the house. Ted Cruz will form his own crazy wing in the senate and do anything he can to run the hard righties agenda against Mitch. Can you say filibuster? Ted will no doubt be filibustering his own leader's bills he wants passed that Ted deems too liberal or a compromise. So now for two years we will get to see up close and personal in the news just how dysfunctional the republican party really is.

Keep Calm, Carry On

Additionally, there's still the veto pen and the republicans do not have a super majority in the senate. They will have the same issues the dems had when they controlled both houses after 08.

but this level of damage is not fixed in the next election cycle. Its simple math. Its a 250 seat super majority in the House. Not fixed in an election cycle. Its a strong majority in the Senate. 2016 has few options to to make serious gains in the Senate.
I agree that the Senate could devolve into a clusterfuck for Turtle but that result really has little impact. No one really expects them to do anything already.

The only way forward is to promote, vote and hold Democratic state legislatures. Promote, vote and hold Democratic Governors. To promote, vote and hold Democratic state office holders at all levels. If we are to remain relevant this is our best option.

A supermajority is two-thirds of the seats. In the House, that would be 292, not 250.

My only point was that the retug majority is historic in size and not fixed in the next election cycle or unlikely in even three.

I believe in the Senate a super majority is considered 60 Senators from the same party that will vote together on a specific bill. While the Constitution requires only a simple majority to pass a bill in the Senate, the Senate rules at present require 60 votes to pass a bill. A two thirds majority vote in both the House and Senate are required to override a presidential veto. I'm not aware of the House having a "super majority" rule like the Senate and that a simple majority passes any bill in the House.

I want to wallow in this horrific loss and may-be in a few days I might feel better, right now.....I'm sick, and I'm tired, and I'm in a terrible, terrible mood.
