Romney’s great-great grandfathers, Miles Romney and Parley Pratt, had 12 wives each.

Here's one for all you birthers from the far, far right = Romney not a natural born citizen

Amazing, in 1922, George Romney (Mitt’s father) had roughly 165 first cousins and polygamist Parley P. Pratt is Great-Great Grandparent to both Jon Huntsman & Mitt Romney.

Romney Presidential Eligibility Unconfirmed

.......... In 1862, Miles Romney, a son of Gaskell married Hannah Hood Hill in Salt Lake City and he began to practice plural marriage soon after. He had three wives while living in St. Johns, Arizona. Miles was a carpenter, contractor, builder and publisher of a weekly newspaper. All seemed well for the Romney’s until Congress finally passed the Edmunds Anti-Polygamy Act in the 1880′s which made polygamy a felony after an earlier act that President Lincoln passed called the Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act of 1862 was virtually ignored because Lincoln didn’t want Utah involved in the Civil War. The Edmunds Act finally made the United States take a serious stance against polygamy. After the bill was passed, life for the Romney household took a rather bad turn. (pg. 51)

Overnight he was reduced from the leading citizen of the community to a hounded and hunted man. He and others in the same plight sought asylum in Mexico.

It’s pretty confusing trying to track the Romney genealogy, but Mitt Romney’s great-grandfather fled with his three wives to Mexico so they could continue their polygamist lifestyle with a multitude of other Mormon polygamists and settled there, cutting land deals with Mexican president, Porfirio Diaz using funds that came from The Mormon Church.

It was on Sunday (Morning Edition) and in their archives if anyone is interested.

Mexican Cousins Keep Romney's Family Tree Rooted
--snip--
Today, some of their descendants still live about a four-hour drive from El Paso, in the Mormon colonies in northern Chihuahua, where mainstream Mormons no longer practice polygamy.

Kent Romney, 67, is a talkative peach grower and fishing-lure manufacturer who proudly gives a tour of Colonia Juarez. It's an orderly, prosperous town located at the foot of the ruggedly beautiful western Sierra Madres.

About a thousand people live here; most of them are Mormons.

"We have Meredith and Karen Romney," Kent Romney says. "Meredith has a brother named Kelly Romney ..."

In all, he counts about 40 Romneys.

not sure that's very fair or 'right'.

He may not be "accountable" for the actions of his ancestors, but their actions enabled him to be where he is. His stand on immigration is pretty hypocritical given that his grandfather fled to Mexico to escape federal charges where his father George Romney was born and lived for 5 yrs. The Romney family made out pretty well playing the border game without 'papers'.

I personally don't think this makes Mitt uneligible for the Presidency, but when he talks harshly about "illegal immigration" he'd do well to look in the mirror.

She dropped that little nugget on "The Chris Matthews Show" during the "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" segment. More detail was sorely needed, but Tweety' never allows his guests to elaborate.

At any rate, it's a known fact that Mitt's father, George, was born in Mexico, but according to Andrea Mitchell, when he moved to the U.S. (where Mitt was born), he somehow did so illegally.

Did the Romney's give up their US citizenship when they moved to Mexico? I know George Romney was born in Mexico, but he was born to former US citizens. His mother was born in Salt Lake City and his father St. George, Utah. Mitt's mother was born in Logan, Utah.

George Romney's parents were born in Utah before Utah became a state and were therefore NOT US citizens when they went to Mexico to avoid prohibition of polygamy. They did not come under any amnesty when Utah became a state as they were not in Utah, but were living in Mexico at the time. So, I suppose, technically, George Romney was not a US citizen by birth right, and not a US citizen by virtue of having US parents. There is no disagreement that Mittens was born in Michigan (an "anchor baby"?).

So here we have two candidates -- one who was born in Hawaii of a foreign-born father and a US citizen mother and the other who was born in Michigan of a foreign-born father and a US citizen mother. So howzcome the one is ok to run for President but the other is somehow a foreigner and not eligible to be President???? Can we spell bigotry????

And Mitt's mother's parents, or where she was born.

Mitt is a citizen, born in Michigan. However, birthers should have to deal with their own "natural born" issues - if they raised it, they can apply it equally to all candidates. If George was not a citizen, then Mitt and Obama are in the same place, fact-wise.

It is what it is. Huntsman is also related to Parley Pratt.

It's not an issue.

If Romney's great grandfather had 12 wives, and each wife had five childen, and 60% of the children are boys; and two wives had all boys and one wife had all girls; then how many years would you have to go back in time to prevent the birth of this miserable robotic motherfucker who is going to be annoying me for at least several more weeks if not clean into November?
