http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2014/11/republicans_won_t_impeach_president_obama_but_democrats_think_they_might.html:snip:Sen. Mitch McConnell might want a more bipartisan Senate, but if Republican voters have their way, he wont deliver one.
According to a postelection survey from the Pew Research Center, most Republicans57 percentthink the party should move in a more conservative direction, compared with 39 percent who think GOP leaders should moderate during the next two years. Not that theyre interested in legislation. Sixty-six percent of Republicans want leaders who stand up to President Obama, even if less gets done in Washington. In other words, now that they have control of Congress, rank-and-file Republicans are less concerned with policy and more interested in fighting Obama, even if it derails a conservative agenda.
The rethugs claim impeachment is off the table. I don't buy it. I think they will try and splash as much mud on the President before he leaves office as they can. Whether they could get a conviction is irrelevant to the Teahaddists. Impeachment is the ultimate "standing up to the President" card the rethugs can play. They all come from blood red districts and would be hailed as heroes for preferring impeachment charges.

like the Sword of Damocles over his head with fox breathlessly asking "Is impeachment really off the table?" every 3 days to keep the drooling masses entertained.

thanks to Democrats leaving the President out all alone and with a completely complicit media, they have so negatively cast Barrack Obama, they have him in a real box.
IMO, they will put forward a LOT, a LOT of really bad shit, the country will not pay attention and they will scream bloody murder about how horrible BHO is if he does not sign it.
It is sort of like a cat playing with a mouse, frankly.
I like him a lot, but the party very willingly let the republicans completely eviscerate him.
