2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYou have to give the HRC supporters their due..
They have been boots on the ground everywhere.. not waiting for an announcement, but getting out in the community.
Now I bumped heads with many a HRC supporter in 2008 because I was an Obama supporter..
That sort of goes with the territory in the primaries..you root for your candidate.
Of course afterwards there were a small group who could not get over it.. and basically became Republican supporters.. a small group, but none the less that is what happens when you let go of "reason"
But her true supporters, who really believe in her.. kept the fire burning, and have been out in force for months.
I personally did not think she was going to run, and only came to the possibility when Chelsea left her news position to work in the Clinton group.
Chelsea is her Moms right hand woman.
Soooo.. the point of this little op, is ... if you have someone you think is a good candidate.. get out and volunteer for them.. start talking them up in the community.. Look to the HRC group as a model.. or even the Obama group.. you have to stand up for your candidate.. and work for them. Write them or call their office and volunteer to work in your own community if they will run.
No one is inevitable (trust me on this.. as an Obama supporter, we went up against that wall with HRC and Edwards even Biden).. the reason that a candidate succeeds is not only their own positions, but those of their volunteers willing to get their message out.
One other thing.. it takes money, and any candidate that you support will not only have to garner money from his supporters on the ground..but also from corporates.. its just a fact of life.. So don't throw your own people under the bus on that one..
Good luck out there..

(19,537 posts)... they don't by hand put together the crowds themselves. Grass roots movements have always worked like this, even if the politicians are some of the greatest geniuses with the greatest ideas for the causes they want to lead for change on. That is what democracy is all about and what makes it different from dictatorships.

(21,115 posts)when you have one that can do that....let us know! Looks like you have your work cut out for ya....better get busy!
If you think Dems do not know who Sanders and Warren are....you are sadly mistaken. She polls 64% among those...the ONLY one out of single digits and only barely. Joe Biden
notice the poll was FOX News by the way? Of course you didn't!

(21,115 posts)You can't seriously believe that someone who once ran for office and didn't make it...never makes it on another try? You don't seriously believe that do you?
Do you also believe in magic and Santa Claus too?

(21,115 posts)that you are dreaming that this http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html
wasn't true....
Oh and I am the one that says I am pledged that I WILL vote for whomever wins the Democratic primary....so there IS no world to come crashing down for me unless that candidate doesn't win in 2016....
now YOU on the other hand.....has something to lose!

(21,115 posts)what's your excuse?
but right now....I am in support of the candidate with the STATS to kick the Republicans ASS!....that is MY objective....because I want to win! I don't want to find out what 3 branches of Republicans are like.....so my goal is to achieve THAT at the very least....SOOOOOO I strongly support the candidate with the highest STATS in that department.

(22,457 posts)I will vote for the Democratic candidate and you know it. You even specifically asked me that question and I told you I would. But if you want to whine some more that's fine.

(4,484 posts)I also supported her in 2008, but loved Obama. I still think Obama is one of the best Presidents we ever had. However, I've been afraid to articulate much of my support for Hillary on here because of the way her supporters get bashed. :/

(63,901 posts)general if she runs and gets the nomination. I simply cannot NOT vote, given how high the stakes are. If a republican gets in office you can say goodbye to anything good in this country. Women will be especially affected. I cannot let that happen, as a grandmother of 3 girls.
It's a simple as that, folks.

(22,875 posts)You are letting that perception get in your way.. If you do not get out and do the work.. set up a positive place fro your candidate to announce and people to respond... it goes nowhere.. no one person can pull all that load..
Trust me, I have been there.. President Obama is no accident.. he is there because of the support of people who believed in him, and were willing to get out and talk him up..
Getting a good candidate elected is a group happening that is for sure..
The only talk going on now is about Hillary for one reason.. Her supporters are out there.. they are here in Iowa.. talking to people.. and I am not talking big wigs.. I am talking people who are next door neighbors..

(270 posts)And Bernie himself has been all over the damn country not just promoting himself but trying to help the Democrats. The guy deserves a tremendous amount of credit whether he runs or not.

(22,875 posts)If you have any inkling that your candidate of choice might consider running writing them or calling their office and getting your name on their volunteer list..I got an invite to hear him speak in Altoona Ia.. (that is next to Des Moines) on the 16th of December.. I would like to go..but it is a fund raiser for the progressives in Iowa..and I cannot afford the tickets right now so close to the holidays.. So those in Iowa who are interested in his candidacy will need to start stoking those fires..just like Hillarys group has done..
