2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere’s an Anti-Obama Thread gathering a lot of attention this a.m.
For a President who was completely undermined by the Republican Opposition from day 1, and may I add many from his own party, I think hes done a pretty fucking good job..
We give great hope to the Republican Presidential hopefuls( Lunatics) when we trash our POTUS..

To follow like sheep is wrong.
Lets clear the path for a complete take over of the Govt. by the Lunatic Right..
We can have Yup parties while we watch..

(11,417 posts)I was born during the Truman administration. He was criticized as was Kennedey, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama now. The right did not gain any advantage. We are stronger when we speak out not when we are afraid!

(8,515 posts)The opposition today are complete bunch of war mongering extremists who are bent on changing the moral and economic fabric of our country as laid out by our Const.. Bet your ass Im afraid.. Especially afraid for my son who will be completely caught up in their war mongering..

(11,417 posts)right.
Look at the history of this country. It has never been without problems. If you have access to Netflix on TV go see the American Experience documentary "1964". That was the year I graduated high school. You think now is bad you ain't seen nothing like 1964.

(8,515 posts)There is absolutely no comparison..There were still some sensible members of the Republican Party back then..I lived that documentary, I marched on D.C. and in the streets. Cops were more reasonable back then..Today the opposition party is filled with just plain fucking ignorant people who deny climate change, are war mongers, have absolute no moral boundaries..For Christ sakes the Republican Party wants to endanger the lives of millions of people who will be kicked out of their healthcare plans..
Yes, the nuts who are yearning to take over our govt. present a far more frightening scenario than what I experienced in the late 60s.

(44,108 posts)IMHO opinion anybody who claims we had a bullet proof Democratic Congressional majority in 2009 wasn't paying attention or is disingenuous.
We got great legislation out of the Pelosi house where we did have a solid majority.
In the Senate the majority was razor thin, and pretty much came down to Joementum, ardent McCain supporter.
Everything the house did was deliberately fucked up by the Senate by Republicans, aided and abetted by a few DINO's.
or this one:
"22. You have disenfranchised young voters. "
What the fuck does that even mean? I had an internship on Obama 2012 campaign and we spend tons of time helping young voters register and get to the polls or provide them with absentee ballots.
Anyway this is all a little too meta so I don't want to get to far into it.
Have a good one!

(14,733 posts)Any Republican hopeful who gets votes in 2016 in the general is going to get more votes than Obama does in that election!

(14,733 posts)Maybe if he's so upset about being undermined, he shouldn't have spent years trying to help them and work to try and pass a trade bill that even Harry Reid seems to think is an abomination, but Boehner and McConnell love.

(23,664 posts)He's accomplished a lot, but he could have done so much more if he hadn't wasted most of his term trying to do all this bipartisan crap.
Unfortunately, now that he's begun to flex his muscles, he has decided to be a douchebag (to his own supporters) over this "free" trade agreement.
