2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumShe pointed to Hillary Clinton “I met her and my life changed.”
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/10/18/1248523/-You-won-t-see-Hillary-Clinton-in-the-same-light-ever-againBut that night in the theater two years ago, the other six brave women came up on the stage. Anabella De Leon of Guatemala pointed to Hillary Clinton, who was sitting right in the front row, and said, I met her and my life changed. And all weekend long, women from all over the world said the same thing:
"Im alive because she came to my village, put her arm around me, and had a photograph taken together."
"Im alive because she went on our local TV and talked about my work, and now theyre afraid to kill me."
"Im alive because she came to my country and she talked to our leaders, because I heard her speak, because I read about her."

(81,220 posts)Glad you're here! Like your post! Oh she's so this, she's so that... terrible terrible... kinda tired of that.
I understand. I understand the yearnings of those who wish for Elizabeth Warren to get in, and now, for Bernie Sanders to go all the way. Well, I like both of those leading lights, too. But, honest to Pete, I still think Hillary's the one who'll go all the way, and while she's not perfect, she's LIGHTYEARS better than the "best" (yeah, my ass!) republi-CON on his allegedly best day. Not counting carly fiorina in there. She's just one rather large and pathetic joke, and her candidacy won't even get off the ground, it's so laden down with baggage. THAT's their idea of a viable female candidate. What does THAT tell you? fiorina and palin and michele bachmann - AY-YI-YIII!!!

(32,609 posts)some DUers have questions they wants answered right now. RIGHT NOW!
This truth is just fluff and doesn't matter because a life of public service dedicated to helping children/women/girls and minorities is a wasted life when a DUer has questions. Hillary does not have her priorities straight.

Yes, I like both candidates, Hillary and Bernie. Just in case anyone was keeping score. Which would be pretty ridiculous, but...hey, around here, you never know.

(7,906 posts)I will put you down in my TBD column.
I agree. They are both great candidates.

(21,024 posts)but I have read other examples like these, of the influence she has had on behalf of women; this is real and it's very compelling.

(7,018 posts)But now, just consider the magnitude of the negative side of her. Just to mention
one point: She will foster maintaining the present national political reality of having
America ruled by business corporations. The same bribery, corruption, election fraud,
robbing the everyday citizens in order to make the super-rich more super-rich, making
war on small nations for the sake of profit ...etc... all of which, if continued, will event-
ually bring America down to the status of a Third World nation -- where the few rich
have everything, and the rest have little or nothing.
We are already close to reaching that state. Democracy is only half-alive today, and
she will at least keep it that way. A Republican, as president this time, would
probably kill democracy altogether and install in our nation an Oligarchy, which is a
dictatorship. There are some who say that we already are an Oligarchy.
Americans do enjoy many features central to democratic governance, such as regular elections,
freedom of speech and association, and a widespread (if still contested) franchise.

(30,247 posts)The constant trashing of both Clintons does a disservice to us as a nation. Hillary has done more for women and girls worldwide than most people. Thanks to the Clinton Foundation's innovative accord between pharmaceutical companies and local governments that lowered the price of AIDS and malaria medications, there are thousands of people who are alive today that wouldn't have been otherwise, particularly in Africa.
Yet, around here they are persona non grata.
It makes me sick....
Cal33
(7,018 posts)of Americans lost their homes.....etc..... Just look at the size of the numbers of people
she has helped compared to the ones who have been ruined.
Still, I'd vote for her if she should win the Democratic nomination in 2016. She is preferable
to any Republican, who would be trashing our democracy altogether. Does this reasoning
make any sense to you?
PosterChild
(1,307 posts)..... that provided those millions of Americans, and many millions more, with those homes in the first place.
Cal33
(7,018 posts)means more of the same. The Right-Wingers will maintain their power, if not get
stronger.
On the positive side, if a Supreme Court Justice should retire, I don't think she
would appoint another Republican to the post.

(10,007 posts)Her decisions regarding those two countries had a huge negative impact on the lives of women and children, since they suffer disproportionately from the misery of war.
Yes, Hillary should be commended for her efforts on behalf of women worldwide. However, when she had the opportunity to oppose actions in Iraq and Libya that doomed thousands of women and children to horrible suffering, she chose instead to support those actions.
