People keep telling me that Hillary has always opposed (whatever) or that Hillary
has always supported (whatever).
Here's my problem; if these are all long held positions, why don't I know that already? Digging through old, relatively obscure speeches and statements for proof is not impressive. I really can't think of any particular issue associated with Hillary outside of being the first female President. If the Fates had chosen differently, Palin could have been our first female President. Somehow, the gender of the President is not my first concern. I've grown up in the age of the first female this or that, but women's wages are still at 70% men's. There seem to be too many important issues on which Clinton's response is "me,too".

1. You might check her Senate report and look at the over 400 bills she sponsored.

2. Case in point - all Senators sponsor a lot of bills, but is there any bill
that is widely known to be her special baby? Did she go to the mat fighting for anything?

3. It's easier to hand you a laundry list of "me too!".
That way they can just wave their hands and declare "whatever you care about is in there somewhere".

6. Republicans controlled the Senate for most of her time there.
She was elected in 2000, served from 2001 to 2009.
There was virtually zero time between when the Democrats became the majority in Congress and when she began running for President. |

7. That includes co-sponsoring -- which means joining someone else's legislation
HRC was a junior Senator, whose personal life, made her more important than the roles that she actually played in the Senate, a body that LIVES on seniority, which she did not have. It is not really easy to make the case that she was an exemplary Senator. There is some truth that that position was intended to be a stepping stone to the Presidency in 2008.
Warren has led more in her short time there than HRC did when she was there --- and Bernie was the person behind the community health centers in ACA - one of the best features of that bill. He was also the lead sponsor on the VA bill that passed recently. |
