Debunking the ‘Obama has made America weak’ Claim

John McCain claims that President Obama has led the United States to be viewed as weak overseas. Oh really? Let’s review the evidence, shall we?

Here’s the short answer. Osama bin Laden? Dead. The Iraq war? Done. Libya? Liberated. Foreign terrorist attacks on American soil? Zero.

Here’s the longer, but still incomplete, response. Polls showed that soon after his election, Obama re-established the United States’ standing in the world. Another poll showed the world’s opinion of the US has “improved sharply” under Obama. Gotta wonder about whom McCain is talking.

This would be a impressive list of foreign policy victories for any president, but especially one who has been in office for only three years and one whose every move the Republicans have demeaned, if not attempted to obstruct. More to McCain’s criticism: Obama’s record is one that shows he’s strong enough to use diplomacy, and use it effectively, but also strong enough to use force when he must, also with great effect. And the world knows it.
