ATLANTA (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday he was unsure if he will seek the Democratic presidential nomination, telling a Jewish audience that his decision will hinge on whether he and his family have the "emotional energy to run."
"Unless I can go to my party and the American people and say that I am able to devote my whole heart and my whole soul to this endeavor, it would not be appropriate," Biden said, responding to a question following a foreign policy address.
Biden offered his most extensive public remarks regarding his deliberations about entering a Democratic primary race that includes front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and others. His entry would shake up the campaign at a time when some Democrats would like to see more options.
Clinton has locked up much of the Democratic establishment and few expected Biden to enter the race. (10,520 posts). . . if back room constituencies would like to line up an alternative to Clinton in case it looks like there's a real chance she could lose to Bernie. Biden would be appealing to a lot of dems who aren't keen on Clinton; but I expect he'd be a lot easier for TPTB to work with/control than Bernie would.

(19,972 posts)at the end of her program tonight. He was pretty somber talking about it; certainly didn't appear to have the "emotional energy to run." Maybe it was just the occasion or something, but he didn't seem the least bit excited about jumping in.
Appears that his and his family's emotions now, Jill maybe #1 in this, are telling him NO.

(89,247 posts)but i saw the clip and he didn't sound like he would run. but at this point wont say for sure just in case something happens with clinton. even if it's a small chance because if that does he will run for sure.

i think he is getting pressure from dem insiders who see hillary tanking and are terrified of bernie. i hope joe does not cave to the pressure if his heart is not in it.
