Hillary's "dig" at Bernie Sanders

Here's the transcript of the interview. Sometimes it's good to watch the interview or read the transcript so you can get the full context.

There's no dig at Bernie IMO.

------------

MITCHELL:

Looking at the campaign now, you see huge crowds for Bernie Sanders and for Donald Trump. And people talking about Joe Biden having an opening if he decides to make a difficult choice on– on an emotional level, which we understand. They talk about how authentic these candidates are. Does it– does it hurt you when people say you’re too lawyerly, you parse your words, you’re not authentic, you’re not connected?

HILLARY CLINTON:

Well, that’s just not my experience out campaigning. I feel very, very good about we are. We built a terrific organization in the early states. And we’re expanding into those states that will be after, Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada. The level of support, the intensity of support that I’m experiencing as I speak with people. And– and talking about issues that I– I know are on their minds.

I want to be the president who deals with all those big problems that are in the headlines, but also those problems that keep families up at night. And that’s why I started out listening. Because I think you can come with your own ideas and you can, you know, wave your arms and give a speech, but at the end of the day, are you connecting with and really hearing what people are either saying to you or wishing that you would say to them?

So on everything from mental health issues to substance abuse to college affordability to the continuing struggles that families face despite the fact that we’ve got a recovery and unemployment’s down, people aren’t feeling it. I– I am very excited and very energized by the campaign that I’m running. And, you know, after Labor Day, you kind of move more toward the laying out of your plans and– and moving toward debates and having the exchanges that you expect in a campaign. That’s the next stage. And I’m looking forward to that.

If you recognize who she's describing from the description then the description is apt, i.e. the shoe fits.

If I tell a lie about you, then I reference that lie later, people may understand that I mean you, but not because the shoe (the original lie that I have referenced) fits.

But it really feels to me that we're making different points and taking different views. Let me try to simplify this as much as I can. Do you think Hill is designating a specific politician when she says, "wave your arms and give a speech" or is she just talking generally? And if she means a specific one, is that Bernie, Trump, or someone else?

I think -- my opinion of course -- she's brought out the old playbook to get in a litle dig at Sanders that she used against Obama, Someone who can deliver barn-burner speeches....like that's a bad thing.

Your mileage may vary of course

Clinton and I am assuming the issue is the same. She asked to be interviewed by Mitchell and Bernie didn't just like I figure Bernie asked Chuck Todd to interview him and Hillary hasn't.

Get Alan Greenspan's wife to place her on a nice set and trumpet her Exclusive interview. Not like Sanders, O'Malley and other prole candidates have to do, to get the to sneak in a few minutes of airtime in their rat-a-tat format.

Any TeeVe Journalism Hound would jump at the chance to interview Clinton. Today on CNN Jake Tapper said they have been trying forever to get her on. I'm sure all the otehr shows have done likewise. She chooses not to lower herself to the same treatment that "ordinary: candidates do.

keeping interviews rare makes them valuable and makes both the press and the public pay attention. Look at the coverage Mitchell's interview got, had she been routinely granting them, that coverage wouldn't have occurred.

They are not necessarily sexist, not necessarily RW, nor are they necessarily blind.

She's an easy person to dislike, and when the people who dislike me hear me speak, they instantly take a defensive stance. Is it not possible the same thing happens to Ms. Clinton?

If she had intended that as a dig at Trump she would have used his name.

She wanted it to be ambiguous....Sanders does wave his arm and inspire people -- and she wants to reinforce a meme (just as she did against Obama) that the ability to connect with an audience is a flaw.

By not saying "Sanders" she gets to plant the meme, and later say "oh no I didn't really mean Bernie, nudge, nuf=dge, wink wink."

Sanders. I have to wonder about the motives of some (not all, again--just some--so "shoe fits, etc" ) of the people who say they are supporting BS.

They sure aren't helping him with the slash/burn attitudes. The anger/negativity don't go well with a "people's" campaign.
