(10,007 posts)do it. When Hillary supports institutional racism - such as by appointing private prison industry lobbyists to influential fundraising bundling positions in her campaign - it's no big deal.

(41,127 posts)population in the world including authoritarian, communist China. It's a disgrace of 20 years which brings in massive profits for corporations and shareholders that run these lucrative operations like CCA, the Corrections Corporation of America and the GEO Group.
These prisoners lives, families and communities are permanently damaged by harsher sentencing and stricter laws imposed by Clinton's 'tough on crime' legislation in the 90s, for which he apologized last spring saying to the NAACP 'we went too far'. Indeed, and look at the irreparable harm.
Bernie and others have spoken out forcefully against the brutal unjust incarceration and PIC corruption in THE NEW JIM CROW era that black legal scholar MICHELLE ALEXANDER researched and authored an award winning book about several years ago.
Fortunately Bernie Sanders and others are speaking out forcefully against this privatization racket that must end! American 'exceptionalism'? Not by a long shot! and endemic to this country's rapid decline into 2nd world status, except for the 1% and investor class that benefit.

(26,549 posts)When she lobbied for her husband's "Tough on crime" bills?
How about the horrors of welfare in "It Takes a Village"?
How about her continued support of things like Glass-Steagall repeal and general support of banks. You know, the people who pushed "subprime" loans on minority borrowers who could qualify for better loans?
Oh! You could use the bills she introduced as Senator to try and deal with the problem...except there aren't any.
I know! Let's look at her 2008 campaign. It's not like she campaigned as "the one who can get white voters" and had an army of surrogates dogwhistling like crazy...oh wait, she did.
