2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton calls Kardashian “inspirational.”
When sitting down for an interview with Extras Mario Lopez, Clinton touched on the usual topics like Donald Trump, immigration, and more. But when Lopez turned the conversation to social media, Clinton took the subject very seriously saying, Thats how people communicate these days. Thats where they get their news. Thats where they find out what their friends are thinking. And you cant talk about social media without talking about the queen of Instagram: Kim Kardashian.
Lopez asked Clinton if she thought the selfie-snapping entrepreneur was a good role model for women and Clinton was more than gracious in her reply. You know, I just met her for the first time. She came to one of my fundraisers in Los Angeles, and I really enjoyed meeting her; I really found her to be warm and very personable. That fundraiser, by the way, is where Kardashian snappedwhat else?a selfie with the presidential hopeful.

(9,688 posts)The one she got $5million for from "vivid entertainment"?
Is that better than the Paris Hilton sextape?
That's just so banal.
On the other hand, it makes for good fundraising and social visibility.

(9,314 posts)Clinton then complimented Kardashians entrepreneurial spirit: I think all of us in our own ways can be inspirational or aspirational for people, and I certainly think many people see her as someone who gets up every day and tries to figure out how to make that day successful.
I see nothing wrong with that. I don't care for Kim Kardashian but that doesn't make her all bad.

She just met her at a fundraiser and nice cordial comments were exchanged.

(30,481 posts)Mario Lopez is very well known and respected by many. Awesome that her campaign has the insight for these things. This will be seen by more eyes on Extra than any single event solely held by her competitors. Think about it. Sanders can hold a speech in front of twenty-five thousand and more people will still see Hillary on E. I think people often forget that Hillary has much of the groundwork laid out so she doesn't have to spend every second of every day trying to rile the team up like her competitors who are so far behind on the ground.

(16,423 posts)She's publicity-addicted grifter. (Seriously, just take a look at her smartphone-game and her style-guide.) Without her sex-tape, she would be a nobody. Without her nude photoshots, she would be a nobody.
Kim Kardashian is the living proof that selling out, getting scandalous and getting naked is the shortest route to media-royalty in the US.

(7,358 posts)I often wonder how much education these girls have. Did they go to college? Granted no one would even know who the Kardashians were if not for the fact that their father was made famous as a defense attorney for OJ Simpson. I don't see this family being a role model for anyone. Their notoriety is based on self promotion and showing off their wealth. It would seem that Clinton, the politician that she is, knows whose ass to kiss. And Kim Kardashian has a big one.

She's not Donald Trump.
This, BTW, is the interview in which she touted her husband as a potential VP, despite having done no such thing.
Glad we're keeping it to the "issues".
