But what's it say on the inside?
Check it out here.

This is not just a campaign, says Sanders. It is a “movement,” a “revolution.” He is not only after delegates; he plans to “raise the political consciousness.” Contrast this with the message Clinton conveyed during a meeting this summer with a group of activists. Consummate political engineer, virtuoso of the knobs and dials of public opinion, Clinton said, “Look, I don’t believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change allocation of resources, you change the way systems operate.” David Axelrod, the onetime guru to Barack Obama, brutally mocked the plodding story line. “Hillary: Live With It,” tweeted Axelrod, “is no rallying cry.”

would Time plant a subliminal gender seed on the same cover?

Since July the corporate media couldn't bring themselves to cover Bernie's surge, rallies or even interview him without bringing race into the equation, this is just a different tactic.

I like the pic, haven't read the Bernie article yet, nor the one about "why ambition isn't working for women" but they chose a rather macho image of Bernie and then planted a gender seed on the same cover.

As for the sarcastic "The media blackout continues" post to which you responded, I hardly think the first time that Time has put Bernie on the cover is any substantial refutation of the corporate media's long running historical blackout of him.

Hillary has pretty much lived on the cover of Time, these are only a few examples.

23. Why is the mainstream media ignoring Bernie?
Thu Sep 17, 2015, 10:46 AM
Sep 2015

I see at least a dozen posts a day on this topic, accompanied by even more dozens of concurring responses. Even as I see an equal number of posts announcing Bernie appearances on Face the Nation, Meet the Press, and assorted other 'news' shows. I also get the New York Times delivered to my door every day, in which I've read at least 3 feature pieces on him.

So I don't get it. The question for me is not why the media is ignoring Bernie, but why people are (a) claiming it is; and (b) being so whiny about it.

Getting your picture on the cover of Time (especially one in which you are smiling) is about the pinnacle of mainstream coverage. So can we cease and desist for a bit with the complaints?

there certainly WAS a media blackout. I really don't think people have been complaining about a media blackout on Bernie within the past week or so at least.

that said, the media had to budge eventually, they couldn't ignore the biggest political phenomenon of today forever.

so as a Bernie supporter who saw the media blackout, I'll speak for the group (since everyone thinks one persons actions represents the many).

There was a media black out, it's gotten way better but there are still signs that there is an active attempt to cover him up. Trump overshadows everyone, then it's Hillary's turn, then the media just HAS to fantasize about Biden even though he's consistently said he doesn't have the heart and THEN, maybe they'll mention Bernie, and then when they do, its probably going to focus on Hillary.

All in all, its better now.

Because I realize people's mileage differs on almost everything: I beg to differ a bit. I have seen the complaints the past week. I think my post revealed that I've been perplexed by the "blackout" complaints for some time, given the number of featured television appearances on the major political outlets and (non-Hillary mentioning) major newspapers profiles that have occurred for the entire summer. In other words, I think the complaints have been pretty petty from the beginning.

And while Clinton may have received more "reporting time," this coverage has been almost always about e-mail issues and other potential "scandals," which makes it unwelcome coverage. There are few profiles, since I suppose the media thinks (and perhaps rightly) the nation already knows her. And yet the complaints I see from Clinton supporters are rarely whiny, but almost always complaints about factual inaccuracies.

I think everyone should stick to that tactic. Cries of "unfair!" feel sophomoric.

that Obama's problem (paraphrasing) was basically that after the election he said "thanks, I'll take it from here."

I think that's a valid observation (although you wouldn't have been able to convince me of that back then).

Bernie is getting some overall positive name recognition but on another level I recognize dog whistle propaganda when I see it.

The word that "Socialize" replaces in the general American lexicon in this instance is "eat" as in "Eat this" a pejorative phrase or insult usually referring to male genitalia, sometimes in jest and sometimes not, combine that with a macho pic of Bernie and the lower right title to an article on page 52 titled "Why ambition isn't working for women."

Many more people will only see the cover compared to the numbers that actually read the article.

I'm thinking this may shift a tactic by the corporate media in attacking Bernie more on gender than as they've been doing since July tying every rally, positive poll number and even interviews with him to race, anything to take the subject off his message of inclusiveness and the critical issues affecting the American People.

I'm thinking the corporate media is still trying to frame or pigeonhole him, hoping it jells before his name recognition becomes too large for them to accomplish that feat.

The Time Cover straddles the line of increasing his name recognition but at the same time on a subliminal level having Bernie hurl a sexist insult to the American People, now who would benefit from creating gender division?

I think this photo puts everything that is Bernie Sanders in one memorable, informative image that anybody can relate to. He's one of us, not one of those rich folks that talk about equality and economic resurgence but get their marching orders from the 1%.

This is the guy you can stand next to at the grocery store, or at the unemployment office, or filling sandbags when there's a flood, or handing out candy to kids at Halloween.

He's spent his life trying to make things better for everybody, and you can see it.

Feel the bern, indeed!
