Clinton's Lead Over Sanders Both Growing And Shrinking, According To CNN

Clinton's Lead Over Sanders Both Growing And Shrinking, According To CNN

As you can see, if we look at the race as a series of snapshots, then we observe that from the last time CNN/ORC conducted a poll, Clinton's lead over Sanders grew from 10 points to 18 points. However, if we use the June 26-28 poll as our starting point, then Clinton's lead has shrunk considerably from 43 points.

Is this confusing? It shouldn't be. This is all about freedom, my friends. The freedom to write whatever story you want, regardless of what's actually happening in a race that's still way too in its infancy to actually assign any real salience to polling. If you want to write that the Democratic primary race is widening, you can. You can also write that the race is tightening. You can also use the Aug. 13-16 polls as your starting point, observe that Clinton has maintained an 18-point lead, and declare that the race is static.

At any rate, the most accurate way CNN could have described this poll in a headline would be to write "Area Numbers Collected, Placed In Spreadsheet."

1. Bernie is bringing clarity to the election. He is forcing Hillary to move further left AND

he is speaking to CONS.

I heard the interview with Greg Palast on Thom's show I think it was talking about how Bernie was the ONLY white guy to show up at the Black Caucus as to what happened when Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris committed election fraud.

Bernie is getting boring to listen to, for me, because he is repeating the same thing over and over, but the reason he does that is he actually has a simple message and he actually intends on doing something about it if elected.

Now I will be quite happy too if Hillary is elected, because I know what a Democratic politician has to do to get REelected and I know she will do that which will be of the greatest benefit to all of us

Bernie would go further, but either will do.

Long ago and far away in a crowded room somewhere on the east coast, in Arlington ,VA I think, attended by many progressive DNC members by telephone, a discussion was had on Hillary's worrisome tendency to move too far to the center to keep the base energized. A counter balance was needed, a very real articulation of things we have been pushing for for the last 20 years. Out of this was Born the Bernie Sanders Campaign. He did not expect to win at first. That is more than evident in the early interviews. He was gracious enough to provide the voice. Beyond that, we shall see, but truly thus far, I can say "Mission Accomplished".

It's something new, and thus has to be introduced continually to new audiences to set a context for people who have not heard it

It can get kind of boring to those who follow the news regularly, and see his TV appearances (and televised speeches) repeatedly. However, many do not follow politics so religiously, and thus is not boring to them.

Hopefully, as the campaign continues, it will be refined and expanded upon.

2. Looks like it's grown since early September, but shrunk since June, according to CNN polls.

Probably the early September poll was a bit of an outlier, since the one before and after it both have her up 18%.

6. No matter what the story on Hillary's numbers are

Sanders remains around 25% and Hillary is in the lead.
I don't think there will be much change there.
I think it is telling that since Hillary gets more negative press than does Sanders the media thinks she will be the nominee. I think the media doesn't even consider the Dem primaries rather they feel it is Hillary vs what ever repub emerges as their candidate.

not only do they want an epic battle between Hillary and Jeb!, m$m clearly is putting its corporate interests first, and either of those candidates would be just fine with them.

8. Thank you for this. Honestly, I am so tired of people trying to defend bad polling.

I think I'm just going to put the word poll in my automatic trash list that way I don't even have to look at them anymore. If Hillary wins the nomination I will be curious to see if Hillary supporters are so supportive of every poll that comes out in the general election.

Its a perfect way to undermine a candidate when the numbers always favor their opponent. I've given up on polls since they're subjective. Last week Ben Carson was the flavor of the week. This week its Carly Fiorina.

I don't know who to believe anymore.
