(102 posts)I'm voting for Bernie in the primary.
The democrats are fractured now and more than ever will refuse to vote in the general if their preferred candidate doesn't win the primary. I'm voting for the democrat in the general no matter who it is, but am I in the minority?
Meanwhile the republicans just love Trump and to them he can do no wrong.
madokie
(51,076 posts)There is not Enough Idiots to elect him, simple as that
geek75
(102 posts)But when half the democrats sit home it opens up bad possibilities. It happened in 2010 and again in 2014. If imbecile Joni Ernst can win convincingly in Iowa you bet I'm scared Trump can win the presidency.
madokie
(51,076 posts)You can bet on that too. We'll be out in force. In many cases it will be our children and grand children who will make sure of that.

(11,417 posts)vote for Sanders if he were the nominee.
I certainly would. I feel we would lose the White House if Bernie won the primaries.
I cannot see a way to a progressive revolution with Sanders.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)do anything to keep a progressive out. But that isn't justification for not trying. We must break the hold the Oligarchs have on our government or die trying. We have 22% of American children living in poverty and there are those that rationalize that that's ok because we might lose if we try to fight the Oligarchy. We have a moral obligation to change the status quo which is destroying the 99% and there is zero indication that Clinton is interested. We must take the chance. Our Founders would be very disappointed if we vote in a candidate that supports the status quo.

(706 posts)Let's work to prove that prediction right everyone. He has the whole deck stacked against him remember that he needs us to win. If Bernie becomes the next President of the United States it will not only be a victory for Bernie Sanders but ultimately a victory for we the people but even after that victory we cannot rest we must then take the next steps in the political revolution.

(706 posts)being wrong and off base with my prediction. I'll own up to it in fact I will donate $10.00 to DU if he either does not become the nominee or he loses the general but only if you are willing to donate $10.00 to DU if I happen to be correct. Deal? You can bookmark this post, I'll keep my word.

(94,502 posts)And I'm not being facetious. What States is he going to win against the Republicans, and where will he get the financial and political resources to pull it off?
madokie
(51,076 posts)He has US behind him and US is a ton of Americans who are fed up with the way things are now. Hillary has none of those people on her side, you can bet on that.

(94,502 posts)..and the Republicans are prepared to spend over $1 B this time around.
But the Sanders supporters tell me he's got a secret formula that doesn't require money?
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
Then Bernie will win.
MasonDreams
(756 posts)We need a little more than President Sanders. If we could all spend 20min a day pushing
Congress, we would really restore government "by the people"
Vinca
(50,261 posts)A good chunk of Congress is bought and paid for. Bernie, as President, wouldn't be a miracle worker, but he might head us in the direction of being a country that gives a shit about all of its citizens, not just the super wealthy ones. We really do need a giant shake-up in Washington.
MasonDreams
(756 posts)The medium is the message. $ could be defeated in time, by We The People. A billion emails, millions of snail mails, phone calls etc.

(1,941 posts)Just don't let the tears get in your way when you cast that historic ballot for our country's first female Commander-in-chief.
Sanders 2016 is little more than Kucinich 2008. In fairness to Bernie, he is probably 20 years and 18 trillion dollars too early.
