Hillary Clinton to Host Substance Abuse Community Forum in Boston with Mayor Walsh and Attorney General Healey
On Thursday, October 1st, Hillary Clinton will be joined by Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Attorney General Maura Healey to engage in a conversation with the community on substance abuse and its tragic effects on individuals and families in the City of Boston and throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Known as the "quiet epidemic," addiction impacts individuals from every socio-economic status and every neighborhood. More than 500,000 people in Massachusetts suffer from addiction or dependence on drugs and alcohol but are not currently receiving treatment. This forum will offer an opportunity to explore the community's needs for prevention, treatment and recovery for substance abuse and addiction.
Since launching her campaign, Hillary has heard countless heartbreaking stories of families and communities torn apart by substance abuse disorders. As a leader in the battle to combat substance abuse, Hillary recently announced her initiative to Combat Americas Deadly Epidemic of Drug and Alcohol Addiction.
Hillary Clinton will speak at a Substance Abuse Community Forum

Clinton was set to appear alongside Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and Attorney General Maura Healey for a talk on substance abuse Thursday. Doors were set to open at 1:30 for the meeting, scheduled to begin at 2:30 at the Boston Teachers Union Local 66 Hall in Dorchester.
Clinton also planned to host a fundraiser on Thursday, though a Clinton staffer did not return a question about where it would be. The staffer told Metro the fundraiser is closed to the public.

But Boston Teachers Union President Richard Stutman told Metro the union wouldnt have a role in the talk apart from offering the space. She needed a friendly place and we have the room so we are glad to accommodate her, Stutman said.

Sanders, the Vermont senator, planned to appear in Boston on Saturday at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Doors were scheduled to open at 5 p.m. The event was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
As a party were very excited at every opportunity to have our activists get a chance to hear from the many great democratic candidates for president on our side this year in person, said Pat Beaudry, spokesman for the Massachusetts Democratic Party.
By late September the party was not officially involved in any candidates primary campaigns.
