Vice: Email to Hillary Clinton Shows Effort to Quash Story About WikiLeaks and Turkey

Vice: Email to Hillary Clinton Shows Effort to Quash Story About WikiLeaks and Turkey

An email sent to Hillary Clinton during her tenure as secretary of state shows that government officials tried to pressure the Washington Post into suppressing details about a WikiLeaks cable that revealed information about the US cooperating with Turkey to share intelligence about Kurdish militants.

"Despite our efforts, WaPo will proceed with its story on US-Turkey intel cooperation against PKK," the message said, referring to the Kurdistan Workers' Party. "They will not make redactions we requested so expect the Wikileaks cables to be published in full."

Turkey has recently started bombing PKK targets in Syria, triggering the worst violence the NATO member country has seen in two decades. The group, which says it is fighting for greater Kurdish autonomy, is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union, and the United States, but has been one of the most effective forces fighting against the so-called Islamic State.

Including the cache of messages released on Wednesday, more than 19,500 pages of emails sent by Clinton during her time at the State Department have now been made public. The correspondence suggests a relentless focus by Clinton's team on WikiLeaks, and concern about the potential fallout from the disclosures.

"The administration's response seems quite weak to me," Clinton aide Mark Penn wrote to Clinton in an email dated November 28, 2010. He recommended offering "a bounty for the capture of those responsible," and "aggressively dealing with the problem directly."

Now we have Libya, Syria and Yemen to add to "The List." Don't hear much about Libya anymore do we? Is reconstruction and Business Investment ongoing there? Entrepreneurs and all that good stuff.
And Yemen...well the Saudi's are handling that except for our blockade of humanitarian relief sent from Iran.

Syria is a Work in Progress....we just couldn't deal with the "surprise" of all those refugees from the other "Regime Changes" joining some big Terrorist Group we call ISIL because of the chaos, suffering, dislocation and bombing destruction we and our Allies helped create. Plus, that Assad guy just wouldn't go and we didn't dare "Take Him Out" like the rest because allies were getting antsy about our other experiences in removal of "Dictators" and the aftermath...so here we are.

Let the Russians and Iranians handle it. Except we will make sure we make them out as the "Bad Actors" to cover up our stalled progress in opening the whole Middle East to Global "Business Investment." It just ain't safe there, anymore. Turn it over to someone else and then we can come in and pick up the bits and pieces at an opportune moment when the dust settles. That's if we don't start WWIII in the interim.

Considering who she had emailing her and their advise, no wonder she tried to hide her communications. This stuff reads like network TV action screenplays.

Not Hillary Bashing at all ...but, shouldn't we know what our Government Officials are Up To and their Track Record before we Vote Again for Them? If we Dems demand it from the Right then we should also Demand it from Our Dem Reps?

Isn't it called "Accountability to the Voters?" But, in the age of "Citizens United" that's all been pushed aside..Hasn't it?
