Ezra Klein: “Obama has proposed policies. Mitt Romney hasn’t.”

“I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that’s the America millions of Americans believe in. That’s the America I love.”
~Actual Mitt Romney Quote (January 2012)

Whether it's cutting the deficit, taxes, reducing unemployment, healthcare, financial regulations on Wall Street … nearly everything – Mitt Romney is the guy that will tell you what you want to hear without any substance whatsoever. He doesn’t have plans to address any of the country’s problems; he has a set of ideas … an ideology that he will use as his guiding light. That ideology is a mixture of supply-side Jesus, the American flag, freedom and apple pie. And together with those four important platitudes … he’s asking for your vote.

Ezra Klein gives a blow by blow detailed account of how Romney’s plans lack actual PLANS HERE
:

Obama’s policy proposals are sufficiently detailed that they can be fully assessed and conclusions — even odd ones — confidently drawn. Romney’s policies are not.

Romney’s offerings are more like simulacra of policy proposals. They look, from far away, like policy proposals. They exist on his Web site, under the heading of “Issues,” with subheads like “Tax” and “Health care.” But read closely, they are not policy proposals. They do not include the details necessary to judge Romney’s policy ideas. In many cases, they don’t contain any details at all.

It should not be considered partisan to demand details from the two men campaigning to be president. Both Republicans and Democrats should want to know the specifics of Romney’s tax plan. Both liberals and conservatives should insist that Romney reveal his plans to regulate the financial system. But so far, Romney has refused to give voters the most basic information about what he would do as president. That means he has refused to give voters the most basic information necessary for them to make an informed choice this November. That’s not acceptable. And neither voters nor the media should accept it.

We do know that Mitt Romney’s tax plan will result in either raising taxes on the middle class or further increases in the national deficit in order to fund Romney’s tax cuts for the rich above and beyond the Bush tax cuts for the rich. The only reason we know this is because even though his plan is tremendously lacking in detail … it is mathematically IMPOSSIBLE to do what he is proposing to do without one or the other. As I have written about HERE - his most senior economic adviser claims that his ONE PAGE economic plan will deliver 12 million jobs in his first 4 years as President.

For those of you who have not seen his economic plan for the country … you really need to see this. There is nothing else. This is his entire plan … there are no addendums or details to find somewhere else. This is IT. And with that – I share with you the Romney economic plan to deliver 12 million jobs in four years:

If you need a larger version – you can view that on PDF at link~

Another thing you should ask yourself as you read through that or his Health plan HERE (yes – that’s his ENTIRE health plan in one page for a total of 369 words) … in what way are his prescriptions for America different from that of George W. Bush on ANYTHING? I’m asking – seriously. He says that he loves the Paul Ryan plan but he would make changes. You ask him what – he says he’d have to work it out with Congress. You ask him what he disagrees with George W. Bush on and he says something generic like ” we disagree on several things” … you ask him what and he can’t give you not even ONE difference.

This guy is running on the anybody but Obama campaign. He is hoping that with his money (he’s raising more and has more cash on hand than Obama) in conjunction with his support from anonymous billionaires spending money via Karl Rove and Koch Brother run 3rd party groups … that he’ll be able to run a completely substance free campaign full of platitudes and placebos. At the end of the day … he just wants you to know that he’s not President Obama. Even though – he can’t tell you in any discernible or verifiable way what he would ACTUALLY DO if he were to become President.
