Poll gives Obama a four-point lead in Virginia

The CapCorr/Gravis poll puts President Barack Obama at 44 percent with Mitt Romney at nearly 40 percent of the vote. With 16 percent of likely voters still undecided, it is still anyone’s game, but the fact that the Obama campaign is doing as well as it is in this traditional red state is significant.”

Kaplan added that part of the electorate may be voting for Obama simply because they don’t ‘find Mitt Romney to be an attractive candidate. Gaining something of a “Thurston Howell” image, Romney’s refusal to show his tax returns might be hurting him in the race. More than 50 percent of likely Virginia voters said Romney should show more of his tax returns.

“People want Mitt Romney to show the same tax returns he showed John McCain in 2008,” Kaplan said. “People don’t understand why he would show them to John McCain when he wanted to be vice-president but won’t show them to the public now.”
