WaPo: O’Malley gets 4 percent support from home state

WaPo: O’Malley gets 4 percent support from home state

The former governor is backed by just 4 percent of voters who are Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents in a potential presidential primary matchup in the state, a new Washington Post-University of Maryland poll finds.

The relative success in Maryland of Sanders -- whom O’Malley has called as a “protest candidate” -- may be especially galling for the state’s former governor, whose eight-year tenure ended in January.

Sanders was at just 3 percent support one year ago in Maryland, matching O'Malley's level. Since then, Clinton's dominant position has fallen 20 points, from 63 percent to 43 percent. Sanders has gained 17 points while O'Malley has't moved.

In all fairness, very few people know who either Sanders or O'Malley are at this point, so let's see how things look after the first debate.

than O'Malley gets from his own state? Shame. It's time for O'Malley to drop out if his numbers doesn't change after the first debates. He won't have the funds to continue.

I support Clinton. It isn't that people here don't know who O'Malley is, he just wasn't a particularly inspiring politician. We hear about politics all.the.time. here so I think Marylanders are actually quite savvy about who the politicians are, they just aren't enamored with him.

I find his presidential run as whiny and uninspiring. I am surprised though. I thought he'd run an intelligent campaign.

O'Malley should have gotten more than 4% from his home state by people who thought they were voting for their favorite brand of butter.
