Bernie Sanders Destroys NoLabels Talking Points On Social Safety Net

Bernie Sanders was the sole 2016 Democratic candidate to appear at today's Cut The Safety Net No Labels Presidential Forum, and he absolutely destroyed Chris Christie's appearance earlier in the program.

Chris Christie just straight-up lied to the audience, telling them the entire Social Security program would be broke in eight years, a claim which is simply not true.

At the beginning of his speech, Sanders spent time on jobs programs, trade, and the economy before turning to Social Security. Senator Sanders called for a raise in the taxable cap for Social Security and an expansion of benefits for those receiving them right now.

But the real applause line happens right at the end, when Sanders talks about the wars that the Bush administration piled onto the national debt. He made Lindsey Graham and Chris Christie look like the selfish hacks they are.

"Those wars will end up costing us somewhere between 4 and 6 trillion dollars. And I've got to tell you, i have a hard time understanding how some members of Congress can come forward and say 'Oh, we've got to cut Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and education and nutrition programs for hungry kids, because we have a deficit'," said Sanders.

I would honestly not be surprised if some big money Republican donors throw in the towel on any Republican winning and go all out against Sanders.

working for us. Because she's female, HRC can't attack without coming off as unlikable, no matter how well she does it. We need Bernie. Even if not nominated, I hope he's in this for the long haul.
