"My goal would be by the end of that first day, about the time that President Obama arrives back in Chicago, that we will have dismantled about 40 percent of his government," he tells audiences.
Obama's health care bill? Repealed.
Legislation that toughened regulations on Wall Street after the economic collapse of 2008? History.
White House czars? Gone.

p.s. Be sure to read the full article on the link above - Newt's promise on the total number of executive orders he will issue on his first day is hilarious!
And someone needs to remind Newt that the number of czars (advisers) that President Obama has is basically no different than the number that George W had.

(36,649 posts)And he's been a faithful husband to each of his three wives. So he should be able to use illegal, unconstitutional, dictatorial powers to undo Obama's Constitutionally-enacted laws.
Perfectly consistent.

(23,339 posts)His teabagging audience was interesting. Mostly, they cheered wildly at his proposed day-one antics, like repealing "Obama-care". But he was met with mostly silence when he proposed cutting aid to countries that provide abortions, so maybe not a huge teabag driver. And the cheering was subdued when he said he would abolish Sarbanes-Oxley, probably since it doesn't mean much to most people, esp teabaggers.
Just give him the presidency, 61 senate seats, and the house majority, and he'll do great things! Izzat too much to ask??!!?

(23,339 posts)I've created data dumps and other reports to support my (former) employer's "SarbOx" audits. It was a lot of work, rework, etc. The audit process is daunting, and I think only a professional accountant could really understand what Sarbanes-Oxley is, and I'm not sure who could understand if it is accomplishing its goals (eg, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting).
It's a very wonky thing.
