WASHINGTON – Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan scores the lowest initial ratings from Americans of any vice presidential pick since the controversial choice of Dan Quayle nearly a quarter-century ago, a weekend USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.

In a nationwide survey taken Sunday, 39% of registered voters call Republican contender Mitt Romney's selection of Ryan "excellent" or "pretty good" while 45% rate it as "only fair" or "poor." Sixteen percent have no opinion.

3. The Bush/Quayle ticket went on to win

And it wasn't even really that close.

But neither did they have 'voters supression' 'e-vote secret proprietary code' et al.

5. Quail just added noise to the campaign. He didn't actually add to the policy discussion.

Because Ryan has a well known budget proposal, it does add that medicare discussion to the campaign. Ryan makes the discussion about the future of policy in the USA on the agenda instead of Obama's unemployment problem (which he would have fixed if the GOP had not obstructed him).

6. Ryan's major problem is he has a 7 term congressional record to pick apart. And trust me,

it'll be picked to the bone.
