The more I see of this Mitt Romney - Paul Ryan charade, the more I see another Bush/Cheney era in the making.
Mitt Romney has the spine of a jellyfish, and Weinermoblie boy will become a puppetmaster just as Dick Cheney was.
Am I wrong, or does anyone else sense this too?

(44,573 posts)The clamor you are hearing for Paul Ryan for VP is not about helping the Romney candidacy, wrote conservative writer and former George W. Bush aide David Frum. Its about controlling the Romney campaignand ultimately the Romney presidency. Its about forcing a platform on Romney, and then dictating the agenda...If (Romney) accedes, its a big surrender of controland a surrender to many of those who most opposed (and who inwardly continue to dislike) his nomination.
...Those are the marching orders, and thus far theyve controlled Romneys campaign...

(14,562 posts)Romney is not Bush.
He is an outsider to the party itself trying to bully his way in.
He has been successful in doing so to this point though his wealth and looks.
Bush was born into it, and had a LOT of tacit support from day one. Pretty much every wing of the party was comfortable with him - the fundies, the hawks, the business types. He ran because Rove had a man crush on him, got his hooks in him and was able to get him to the white house. Bush never really wanted the JOB, but he sure as heck wanted to have everyone kiss his ass for 8 years.
The party as a whole never really has liked Romney, but the see him and he looks the part. Bush sort of looked the part, but he was one of theirs. Romney is not.
Ryan is far too young to be a Cheney. He might have a high opinion of himself, but until the "budget" he was just another R congressman. He does not have NEAR the level of Cheney's gravitas or experience. I mean, Cheney was in charge of picking Bush's VP and just came back and said I am doing it. Ryan certainly was not in charge of picking VPs for Romney.
