2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI've always wondered where the millions go for campaigns...
Say Newt spends $5M/week. He has the usual support staff salaries, accommodation charges, hotel, food, clothing, etc. They also spend on "renting" heads to show up at rallies to increase the counts, don't they? Rent halls? Security?
I guess the main question is, how much is spent on ads for the MSM to air? Whose pocket does that eventually go into? How many million$ are added to the MSM and how much do they contribute in return?
Another question is to MSNBC. Do the Republicans pay to air ads on the MSNBC channel or is the news commentators' constant commenting on their shows about the ads airing them for free?
It is one thing to be commenting about the Republican campaigns, ad nauseum, but they are basically giving the candidates free air time while Obama gets a minute or two. They play their ads over and over again for free during the commentary. There are other events going on in the world that should be getting air time, rather than each of the MSNBC news programs bloviating about the Repubs. Same/same/same from Tweety to the Rev to Ed and to Rachel. By the time Lawrence's show comes around, I'm saturated with different versions of the same/same/same.
Unless they have something to add in-depth, at least two of those news shows should talk about something else.
Why don't they show the accomplishments of Obama, projects from the Stimulus, etc., rather than so many negative campaign crap?
I'm getting grumpy again! Sorry!

(60,212 posts)Some dude delivering pizzas is going to get part of it.
Some guy who empties the trash cans at campaign HQ is going to get part of it.
Some schlub working at the print shop is going to get part of it.
Some dude who drives town cars in Des Moines is going to get part of it.
And so forth.
Like, I dunno what percent of the hundred million dollars or whatever is going into the hands of people at the bottom, but it's better than having the money fester in the pockets of the ultra-rich.
