Raleigh, N.C. President Obamas lead in the Granite State has been halved in the three
months since PPP last polled the state. He once led Mitt Romney by 12 points not long
after he had wrapped up the GOP nomination, but he now leads by only six (51-45)
among likely November voters.
As the Republican convention approaches, Romney has locked up his base. He ceded
13% of his party to Obama in the previous poll, but now is losing only 8% of them. But
Obama has maintained his lead among the states plurality block of independent voters.
He leads Romney 52-40 with them now, roughly the same as his 50-39 advantage earlier.
Independents make up 36% of voters likely to cast a ballot this fall, one of the largest
shares they have of any states electorate.
I am not seeing the amount of support ( in my ward) I saw for President Obama in 2008. I am not quite sure what is going on but I hear the President will be visiting again soon. No one I know has said Ryan is a plus to Rmoney but a couple have mentioned that a shake-up might be helpful at the VP spot for President Obama. While I did not want to argue I did say I felt it would be the wrong move since Vice President Biden has so much blue collar and union support that he brings.

That he will have to spend money and time to try and win his 'home' state is a staggering statement. That he is going to lose two 'home' states (MASS, MI) without a fight and is way behind here is a terrible indicator for Romney.

My wife was elected to the school board (by a 2/3 majority) despite the wingnuts protesting that she was a "teacher" and a "mother" and a "liberal".
She spent three years of hell in that position.
The following year, the guy who spent all of his time saying "I'm going to lower your taxes" lost to somebody who didn't even bother to campaign by 13 votes. His first proposal was to increase the meager school board stipend. My wife (THE LIBERAL) was the only one of the five to vote against it. It passed. We used the money to buy books (100 for $99) from Scholastic and give them to the elementary schools (all three dilapidated buildings) and did NOT deduct that from our taxes.
You have to do what you believe in.
