2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI dislike Republicans much more that I dislike Hillary.......
Not a fan of Hillary. But, I hate the GOP with a passion.
So, if Hillary is the nominee I will vote for her. Hell, once the general campaign starts I bet the GOP nominee pisses me off so bad I send her money.
And I have worked the last 2 election days getting out the vote in Missouri so i bet I do that again also.
I want Bernie but know ANY democrat is better that ANY GOP idiot!
Try to keep this fight in perspective.

(8,594 posts)The Republicans are licking their chops. A new Republican President McCrazy would have a field day, following the first African American President.

(34,825 posts)Someone last week was bemoaning the fact that Sanders supporters weren't upset enough about Republican disclosures proving Benghazi to be a witchhunt, as if we haven't known that for the last two years.

I think there are lots of folks for whom Hillary is not their first (second or even thrid) choice, who will feel the same way if she's the nominee.
All of the GOP candidates are insane whack jobs who should not be allowed in the White House even on a public tour.

(52,589 posts)But knowing what I do doesn't mean I have to like it. I'm looking for movement in the future at least. My sons have disabilities and that can't give them a decent life in the financialization of America both parties have pledged to operate under since the '80's when our party abandoned some basic principles.

(3,795 posts)I would choose the migraine headache every single day.
I continue to hope for something much better than Hillary for the Democratic Party, the nation, and the world. So much is at stake.
It's worth spending a lot of time rallying support for Bernie. NOW is the time to put tremendous effort. Now.

(146,254 posts)We have the primaries coming up. That's where we vote for the Democratic nominee, although some states use caucuses instead. Now is when we support the candidate for the nomination we like best.
Once that process is over, the Democratic National Convention will select the nominee, based on how people voted in the primaries and caucuses. Then, we'll have a Democratic candidate for President, and not before then.
Instead of fighting over voting in the general election, we can be selling our favorite candidate for the nomination. May the best candidate win!

(39,215 posts)and a lot of other things about them I agree.
Their attitude and actions on the safety net scares the devil out of me.
Their eternal use of war to solve everything is a threat to my great grandchildren.
Their ignorance regarding climate change threatens the whole planet.
Their bigotry against poc, LGBT persons, the poor, women and religious groups other than their own guarantees that we will never find peace and harmony even in our own communities.
Their greed that makes them support and even encourage the corporations and banks to continue fraud and risky ventures threatens all of our welfare.
Their worship of the wealthy questions their intelligence.
Their plans for the SCOTUS will keep us in their power for the next 30 years. Our liberal judges cannot live forever.
When I think of it this way - even if Bernie does not win - I will vote for the Democrat and work during the term to see that she governs for us and not against us.
