2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTo my Sanders supporters!
We knew going into this it was going to be an uphill battle and that this wasn't going to be easy. We knew we were the underdogs and had to fight against a media that didn't really want us, a deeply entrenched party machine that still seems to favor corporate democrats, and the ire and rage of the oligarch class that want to buy candidates like trading cards.
We knew this going into this process and it is part of the reason we showed up.
But I am going to say this right now.
We are here to stay. We are here to fight. We are here to win.
Keep talking. Keep positive. Keep bringing up the issues!

(1,976 posts)We must rid the Democratic Party of the war hawks and corporatists. Until then, the job will not be done.

(19,089 posts)There are times when it seems impossible to beat the powers that be, and I get disheartened .... But in the end, you HAVE to promote the ACTUAL policies that matter, and stop with the window dressing, the fig leaf, of corporate dem control ...
We don't just need Bernie - WE NEED HIS POLICIES!
The fight goes on, and, I am in it to the end, a true believer in those policies ...
Hillary supporters? ... It isn't about Bernie, the personality ... I am not awestruck by the fandom of one person - I am gung ho behind the POLICIES that Bernie brings to the table ... Hillary won't get my vote if she doesn't bring those policies to the fore ...
Simple as that ...

(8,879 posts)to that extent, I am a fan of the man, but without the man, I would find a different person to deliver his democratic populist policies.
kenfrequed
(7,865 posts)So far she hasn't brought forth his policies. If you listen carefully to her proposals there is a ton of wiggle room and vague language. That and I don't expect someone who takes money from Wallstreet on Tuesday to regulate them and go after them on Thursday.
We fight to get the best candidate forward that best represents the policy we want. If we lose out then at least we are that much closer.

(841 posts)WITH THEM Bernie can re-capture Congress. Then Bernie can go to work fixing our problems.
Hillary can't. The millennials repudiate her. They will not even vote. Her nomination would be a total waste: she would likely win the general but would then sit on her butt in the Oval Office doing NOTHING for four miserable years because the Republicans would be even more firmly entrenched in Congress all those years.

(32,723 posts)It took Obama to prove the DLC wrong. They kept throwing Bill Clinton in our face as PROOF that only a "centrist" white southerner could get elected.
If the party establishment has their way they will go back to the endless parade of white bread types posing with their families running on "values" and claiming to be "as good as" the Republicans. As proof, they will meet with the big local business owners who already have the Republicans in their back pocket and walk away proud that they were able to be bought for half the money.

(21,054 posts)I still have the Hillary bumper stickers I ordered -- until I happened to do some more reading on Bernie. He is IMO a far better choice for those of us who are FDR Dems and progressives. The more I watch Bernie and watch Hillary, the worse Hillary comes off.

(5,066 posts)I was very postive, and then virtully every poll has her winning debate and picking up ground and Bernie losing ground.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)had some serious issues with those polls during the Bush era. I certainly haven't forgotten those issues.
We are now in the 21st Century with technology that can go directly to the people.
Bernie won every single poll of people WHO ACTUALLY WATCHED THE DEBATE.
Every Media Poll! After which CNN decided to delete their own poll.
They have zero credibility with the people.
The people spoke. Every Focus Group, Every media poll, tens of thousands of individual donations SPOKE for the people giving Bernie over $3 Million dollars after the debate.
I have zero interest in the Corp Media or their Establishment polls. We saw how their exit polls were manipulated during the Bush era.
Bernie, the most searched name on Google after the debate.
Bernie, the most NEW followers on Social Media sites.
And then we have the old establishment polls which talk only to the old established voters, many of whom didn't even watch the debate.
Let them yell. Look how hard they are working to change the facts. They are getting desperate, meantime the people continue to support the only candidate in the race who represents THEM.

(12,471 posts)Finally there is a candidate who is willing to work for WE THE PEOPLE, and not them the corporations. A candidate who is not taking money from corporations. Someone who not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. We need this. We have needed this for a very long time.
Bernie has my support all the way!
