"Sanders is an old, crazy looking, conscientious objecting, tax raising, Socialist from New England"

This appeared unchallenged on DU.

An attack on his looks combined with disparaging him for being a CO, a rightwing-sounding epithet about raising taxes combined with an attack on the East coast liberal establishment.

This is what we got in our big tent? If so, I need some fresh air.

to strip mine the wealth and jobs of this country and other countries to pad their eternal bottom line. In other words, most of real life that has nothing to do with global corporations and their quest for ever greater profits, SO why let them control your government?

Incidentally, this isn't hard. I put the popcorn in the microwave, came back to the computer, read the OP, read all the responses, fired up a search engine (my personal choice is duckduckgo.com but I'm betting any of the major ones would've worked), found the post, copied the URL, pasted it in here, and wrote this explanation -- and it was only as I was typing "URL" that the microwave called me to my feast.

I just wanted to point out that this is the kind of thing that Sanders supporters are also dealing with.

Standing up for what we believe against a candidate that is nearly a foregone conclusion to win is not always fun, and we also deal with a fair bit of mockery and hippie/hipster punching. Also unchallenged for the most part. In fact, the main hippie/hipster puncher is right here on this OP tacitly defending this.

That kind of crap is not productive, and just hyperbole. They won't edit it, I'm sure... But more people should call them out on it.

It's a two way street and we can be respectful of each other and our candidates.

Crazy looking seems both full of shit and just being nasty to be nasty but whatever, fuck em.

It is shocking to see how regressive some are willing to be as long as they can avoid being a bunch of hardliner bigot scum, after that about ANYTHING goes now.

with some frequency. I have seen it done for months. What's the matter? Can't take a little TRUTH back at 'cha?

"disparaging him for being a CO"

How does that disparage him? It's merely a stated fact without other comment. YOU must have attached a negative connotation to it. That's on you.

That's the same thing that happens with Clinton. Sanders folks exaggerate and twist to serve their purpose. It's dishonest.

One would have to think it isn't going to happen in order to think it merits no discussion. Specially considering the wide variety of topics discussed. If Cooper is willing to go sleazy as he did you know the republican will. Where I differ from that op is that I think it will help Sanders. The GOP have really hurt themselves. So many people are tired of their sleazy shit.

I don't think he looks crazy at all, but when people here that he does they get curious. When people get curious they go looking for information. When they find information on Bernie they read things he says or they watch him speaking on video. When people hear what Bernie says they fall in love with him too.

So, in short I don't care if people spread that meme around a little bit. It is bound to create a backlash against the group that does it.
