A Lesson in Why Stonewalling American Voters Does Not WorkSo it looks like dear old Mittens is intent on NOT releasing any more tax returns. I think at this point, some unsolicited advice is warranted. Give these two guys a call:
The first guy is Blair Hull. He was odds on favorite to win the 2004 Illinois Democratic Senate primary. Months leading up to the primary, Chicago papers fought to have Hull's divorce records unsealed and ultimately succeeded with devastating effect. Blair Hull and his ex-wife allowed the release of their 1998 divorce records revealing that she had alleged he was "a violent man" who caused her to fear for her safety. Hull later finished third with 10 percent of the vote in the primary.
The second guy was the handsome clean-cut Republican nominee for the Illinois Senate race. His surname just happens to be Ryan (remind you of someone ). Yet again, those dastardly divorce records reared their ugly head again. After futile attempts at keeping the records sealed, an Illinois judge ordered the release of the records which revealed some lurid details. His former wife, actress Jeri Ryan accused Jack Ryan of pressuring her to have sex at swinger's clubs in New York, Paris, and New Orleans while other patrons watched. Jeri Ryan described one as "a bizarre club with cages, whips and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling."
Moral of the story? It is a losing battle trying to keep secrets from the American public, especially when the information is pertinent as to why we should entrust Mittens with the most powerful office in the land. Oh by the way, did I mention who Messrs Hull and Ryan were running against? One Barack Obama. So do yourself a favor Romney, release more of your tax records. The sooner the better. The truth will ultimately come out. Have any doubts? Give Hull and Ryan a call

(19,458 posts)You DO know that these things you're putting out there are the basis of many right wing attacks, right? This is news max stuff.
I understand the point, but these are right wing talking points used to attack Obama for the past several years. Just sayin'

(1,185 posts)knows there is little in common with releasing tax records. When my ex went into politics, we agreed on sealing the records as we'd both were on record stating things that were "unkind", some true, some with a bit of truth, others out and out lies. Also to protect our son from having to deal with it.
Divorce attorneys for both sides will advise their clients to say things that are untrue, evoke emotion, and can't be proven to be false and may the best (highest paid?) attorney win. They just make more money.
