Republicans Blame Obama For Ohio Unemployment

...a recent post of the RNC invoked my beloved Ohio. And Lordy, do I hate being the proverbial political piñata.

“Ohioans are suffering under the Obama economy with unemployment at a stagnant 7.2%. Sign our petition to send the president a message today.”

I didn’t bother to look at their petition. I can only assume it’s a demand to release birth certificates, proof of Christianity and an executive apology for being likable toward young voters. What caught my eye was the 7.2% unemployment.

A simple Google search will confirm that unemployment in Ohio is at 7.2%. Curious, I did another search to see what it was in 2008 after 8 years of Republican policies. Unsurprisingly, unemployment rose to a then 15-year Ohio high of 7.2% in August of 2008.

If any president claims credit for jobs shouldn't he/she be blamed for unemployment? nt jody Aug 2012 #1

President Obama should accept blame for bringing the Ohio unemployment rate down from 10.6 to 7.2%, in part because of his advocacy for the auto bail-out.

But what I found amusing is that the RNC was saying Obama's "failed policies" brought unemployment to a stagnant 7.2% (below the national average, mind you). If that's the benchmark for "failed policies," then I wonder how they feel about 7.2% Ohio unemployment in August of 2008 after 8 years of GOP policies.
