I'm afraid that there is going to be TOO much pressure on Akin to step down before Tuesday 5pm
and if he does drop out of the race before Tuesday 5pm the GOP will be able to pick a new candidate to go up against Claire McCaskill
see here for details: http://www.democraticunderground.com/125173275
We need to KEEP Akins on the ticket so that McCaskill will have him as an opponent and she will be able to win easier !!!

(50,895 posts)It rarely happens and I don't believe he will consider circumstances will require him to. They may push him to step down but it will be too late before he relents if he does. IMO Besides, there are less than 90 days before the election and would require the new candidate to start from scratch with everything.

(14,180 posts)b/c Ryan and Akin co-sponsored harsh anti-abortion legislation. Ooopsie! Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of sociopaths.
Obama campaign needs to tie Romney\Ryan to Akin now and not let up.

Suggestion for new meme\line of questioning: The GOP supports rape. Why does the GOP support rape?

(14,177 posts)Why couldn't he keep his mouth shut til next Wednesday? Hopefully he is able to hold on til then. Either way the damage has already been done. This isn't the kind of thing women forget, or men either for that matter.

(46,192 posts)first, if we tell them to dump him from the ticket, they will be in a bind if they try to do it themselves, because they don't like to do what we demand of them.
second, if he's dumped from the ticket, that will cause the ire of tea party members
third, as far as the politics go, if he gets dumped, it means our reasoning won, not his, not theirs. lots of Republicans believe his wacko theory --this will call attention to this, even more if he's dumped for it.
FINALLY: my maxim is that one shouldn't do things politically that make no sense to you. a candidate like him is odious and not having him on the ballot makes better sense.
