Tony Perkins: Scott Brown Should Be Careful
PEMA LEVY 2:25 PM EDT, MONDAY AUGUST 20, 2012
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, called on Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown to be "careful" after Brown urged Akin to drop his Senate bid, BuzzFeed reports.
"For other Republicans, I have not seen Scott Browns statement, but he should be careful because based on some of his statements there may be some call for him to get out of his race," Perkins said Monday in Tampa, outside the Republican National Committee's platform committee discussions.
Perkins added that Brown's support among conservatives is "very shallow":
Asked what he was referring to, Perkins said that Brown has been "off the reservation on a number of Republican issues, conservative issues."
"His support among conservatives is very shallow," he added.

Maybe they'll "make him an offer he can't refuse". Hard to make this up in the real world.

They now control the party, and folks better get in line or else.

(13,200 posts)4. Maybe an elected official should be listening to his constituents rather than Tony Perkins?
Does that kind of sound like representative government, you right wing asshole?

I guess this means the Republicans risk a backlash either way - if Akin stays in, the moderate voters are likely to lash out against him, but if Akin drops out, the conservatives may get angry with the Republican establishment.

'Conservative support' is always shallow.
