Hillary Clinton to call for elimination of racial profiling and end of crack cocaine distinction

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton will unveil new specifics of her criminal justice platform in an Atlanta speech Friday by calling for legislation to ban racial profiling by law enforcement, and for an elimination of the remaining distinction between crack and powder cocaine in drug sentencing.

The proposals are among the most sought after by criminal justice and civil rights activists — who have long decried both the crack and powder cocaine distinction and racial profiling in policing — and come as a renewed national focus on race, justice and policing continues to influence the ongoing presidential contest, especially in the Democratic primary.

remaining distinction between crack and powder cocaine

I'm still asking President Obama to please mandate away marijuana off the Federal drug list, this year not next. Totally decriminalize at the Federal level.

America needs the Federal money spent on serious addictive drugs, not annual plant hunts in remote counties, not stop and check pockets for a pinch of coca or a gram of pot.
