Related: About this forumOn Foreign Policy, Bernie Sanders Is the Democrat and Hillary Clinton Is a Republican
Hillary Clinton is a hawkish former Secretary of State more aligned with the GOP's view of foreign policy than most Democrats. This sentiment isn't controversial; even conservative historians agree that Clinton's foreign policy will be "neocon."
A New York Times article titled Events in Iraq Open Door for Interventionist Revival, Historian Says explains that interventionists "are pouring their hopes" in a potential Hillary Clinton presidency:
(snip)
There's no use in being a "Facebook liberal," gleefully spreading memes (as if disparaging Republicans made you different, while you vote for a hawkish candidate) about Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, if you're voting for Hillary Clinton; a hawkish Democrat with a foreign policy more aligned with Bush than Obama. If anything, Clinton has tried to distance herself from Obama on the topics of war and foreign policy. When CBS News writes Hillary Clinton seeks distance from Obama on foreign policy, it's because the former Secretary of State wanted to espouse a more aggressive foreign policy, not the "don't do stupid stuff" policies of President Obama.
For example, Clinton once wanted to arm the Syrian rebels, even though the U.S. is now suspending its program to train the Syrian rebels. Whereas critics of Bernie Sanders's proposals always ask where the money will come from, it's shocking nobody questioned the $500 million cost thus far from our recent attempts at arming the rebels.
Like so many other of Clinton's decisions on foreign policy, from Iraq to bombing Libya, arming the Syrian rebels wasn't the right call. Time magazine writes that, "The New York Times, citing anonymous sources, reports that the program, which cost $500 million, has not been found to be effective..."
(snip)
From Iraq, to the Libya bombing advocated by Secretary of State Clinton, to weapons deals to donors of the Clinton Foundation, the meaning of "qualified" is now just as muddied as "convenience," "evolve," and "mistake."

Hillary has already stated during the Democratic Debate that the Iranians were her among the enemies that she is most proud of, does anyone seriously question what direction our nation would head into should Hillary become President?

Sen. Bernie Sanders: 'I'll be damned' if Americans lead ISIS fight
Sen. Bernie Sanders, one of the Senate's leading doves, said Tuesday he doesn't want the United States leading the fight against ISIS. Instead, said the Vermont senator, who is eyeing a 2016 presidential bid, the nation should be focused on helping the middle class.
Sanders, an Independent who caucuses with Democrats, said he doesn't want to see the United States fall into another "quagmire in the Middle East," and he put the onus on Muslim countries to take on ISIS.
"I'm sitting here wondering where Saudi Arabia is, where Kuwait is, where Qatar is," Sanders said on CNN's "New Day." "I'll be damned if kids in the state of Vermont -- or taxpayers in the state of Vermont -- have to defend the royal Saudi family, which is worth hundreds of billions of dollars."
Saudi Arabia and Qatar are part of a five-country coalition of Middle Eastern nations that have joined the U.S. in airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, but Sanders suggested the U.S. should only be "supportive."
Sanders also joined 21 other senators earlier this month in opposing a resolution to train and arm 5,000 moderate Syrian rebels to combat ISIS.

(58,355 posts)7. That article came out in November of 2014, before Bernie started to run, the author is a life long
Democrat, he made many valid points and he also qualified his support for Paul should he pick a Huckabee type as his running mate, in that case Goodman would vote for Hillary.
If Rand Paul picks Mike Huckabee as his running mate, I'll "evolve" towards Hillary. However, if Rand Paul picks someone reasonable who possesses his value system, I'll take my chances. President Rand Paul will be a nice change from Bush 2.0, Bush in a pantsuit, and especially Bush's brother. In 2016, I want someone who can protect us from ourselves and protect us from the media/terrorist driven fear that keeps America in endless war and allows attorney generals to rationalize a drone strike on American soil. Paul was also the first 2016 contender to visit Ferguson, and for some reason I just can't imagine Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush taking a moment to find out why Ferguson took place, and what steps are needed to solve that intractable situation.

Hillary seems very complimenary of Ron Paul as well in this Senate hearing in 2009 despite the fact that Ron was using what could be construed as sexist language, "tone" and "speaking softly."
Hillary and Ron Paul got along just swell.

should be ignored. At least when it comes to their opinion about who will make the best president.
