How many "white" people have relatives who are persons of color? I'm Irish glow-in-the-dark white, but two of my nieces are mixed race. It's important to me that every opportunity open to my children is also open for them. Anyone who says a black man doesn't belong in the White House closes the doors for my nieces as well!

2. The "61%" premise is incorrect.

The electoral college is not susceptible to the popular vote. The distribution of votes by state is more important than any particular demographic.

3. I think that number will be impossible for Romney to reach...

Only Reagan has been able to win more than 60% of the white vote and that was in '84 when he won in a landslide. In the other two Republican landslides ('80, '88), they only won 56% and 59% of the white vote respectively.

In his narrow wins ('00 and '04), Bush won 54% and 58% of the white vote.

H.W. Bush won only 40% of the white vote in '92 and Dole won 46%.

Romney ain't winning 61% of the white vote. McCain won 55% - so, I could see Romney bumping that up to 58%, but even there, as your post implies, it's not going to be enough.

there will be white females voting AGAINST Romney due to the republican's 'War on Women'.

My guess is that Romney's percentage of total white voters will be less than McCain's.

Republicans are not getting my vote on both counts, and a female, Senior. My younger straight married daughter, her husband, and of course, not my gay daughter, and her "brown" future wife.

My stupid Republican husand is voting to Romney. By my caluculations, he is OUTVOTED just in his own family.
