2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI think even A C Cupp is having trouble with the Republican "Vision."
She's obnoxious, sure...but she's been reporting from the RNC today. But, as she signs off, she's on air giving a RANT, an outright RANT, saying "You guys aren't saying anything! 'America is great, but we can be better,' but do you have new?" It's a great rant...she want's something specific. "Why should we vote for him if he can't give us something specific?"
I think she's spent too much time with her crazy liberal friends on The Cycle.

(31,464 posts)She's like a character from Cheers or something...big library glasses. There is some afternoon show on MSNBC with a panel of three liberals and A C Cupp as the token Republican. She is attractive, of course...but wears thick black geek glasses, and she is cast as the "opposition" on this panel show. I think the big glasses are supposed to say "she's the smart one!"
But the so-called Republican opposition went to the RNC tonight to report live, and her report was pretty much about how much she thought it kinda sucked. No specifics, no nothing. Just a big party. She got lots of swag bags from the NRA and various lobbies...but no one ever mentions politics or positions. She asked for specifics from party ops, but no one would every give her any.
By the way, her actual screen name is S.E. Cupp. Not sure where that comes from, but I can't help but thinking it's bullshit. But I'm probably just being a pig.

(75,480 posts)like she's some kind of satirical character. If she is, then I kind of dig what you describe she's doing.

(31,464 posts)That is my name for her. It is actually S.E. Cupp. Say it quickly.
But she doesn't seem to fit. I'm still guessing she's a plant or something, otherwise she'd be on Fox. I think she is a rich DC operative who pretends she is right-wing just to get into the good parties. I don't believe her bullshit for a minute.

(5,048 posts)But frankly the entire cast of The Cycle is pretty hopeless. A test pattern would be more entertaining.

(25,415 posts)They aren't ultra slick and they all seem real to me. I really like Krystal Ball. S.E. Cupp is annoying but what Repub isn't? I watch for Krystal, Toure and Steve Kornacki.

(5,048 posts)I hear lots of giggly opinions but not much substance. Oddly enough I do like Krystal and Steve when they guest on Lawrence's show but The Cycle is half baked and far too self obsessed.

(25,415 posts)They are all in their 30's (except Toure who is 41) and so am I. But I just liked what Krystal Ball said the other day about being told how to dress when she was running for congress and how to act. She was pretty angry that many people told her to look as plain as possible as being a woman she did not want to seem "sexual". As if that is all anything women have to thing about. She is definitely a feminist.

(5,048 posts)It's a funny thing - as I said, I really enjoy Krystal on other programs just not this one, but hey I remember when "the news" had folks like Cronkite and Brinkley and Murrow so what do I know...
I'm an old fart...
