I was just about to find newborn respect for John McCain during his speech.

He was speaking about how much he loves his country and thanking those who served. He spoke of how indebted he is to have a part in governing this great nation. I was nodding appreciatively.

Then he went off on defense cuts and how "the president is failing to lead" on preventing these cuts. He went on and on about how Obama's own defense secretary advised against the steep military cuts.

I had to stop and think: "what cuts"? I certainly haven't heard of any cuts to our bloated military budget. Then it dawned on me...

I believe he was talking about the suicide pact that was agreed upon by both parties, where if a budget wasn't figured out by the end of the year, there would be deep cuts to both social programs and the Pentagon. These terms were pushed through by McCain's own party because they were that certain they could weasel out at the last minute by saying Obama hates the soldiers and end "entitlement programs".

Now I'm hearing that jackass McCain use it to bash Obama over the head because he won't step in and end welfare and social security to save McCains old army buddies. I'm sorry I began for a moment to think John McCain is a patriot who loves his country. He's just another lying Republican who will say and do anything to win.

on edit;
I'm done with this. Suburgatory is on.

I just tunedinto CNN. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from that bastard. He was furious and barking like a dog about Obama and his "failed relationship with Israel.". McCain insisted tgat Obama has failed because he is trying to foster peace and he is attempting to encourage Israel not to go to war with Iran. McCain was fuming at Obama for this.

Ok people, WTF???? Since when is advocating for peace a horrid thing??? Iran has gone nothing but talk smack, and for that McCain is angry that Obama won't start a war???

When in the hell did John McCain become such a soulless, warmongering neocon???

I guess we can count on a huge, dangerous war if Romney steaks this election. DAMN the Republican party has frickin run off the rails. Iraq and Afghanistan were easy compared to what a war with Iran would be like.

I'm stunned at this.

Always has been, always will be. The hell of it is that he somehow convinced people that he was a "hero" and a "maverick" and a "good man." He is NONE of those things and never was. He is SCUM.

with that 3 TRILLION DOLLARS they "lost". And also that 8 BILLION DOLLARS in cash that apparently wasn't being watched closely enough in Iraq so it was PILFERED. THAT IS ALMOST 4 TRILLION DOLLARS that they can't account for and no one EVER mentions it - oh, and it was lost on Bush's watch.

He said that every decision Joe Biden has made on foreign policy has been wrong.

Yeah - Biden believes in not starting a war with every country on the planet - you stupid jerk!

I bet that "friendship" was a one way street. McCain will die a bitter old man. He just never got over 2008.

to that old fart go on and on. War monger! I had to laugh when he mentioned he had hoped to be addressing the audience in a different capacity. Oh, boo hoo. I used to have a fair amount of respect for him and even felt sorry for him when he was running against Bush and got thrown under the bus. Then I started reading about him and his record and it dawned on me that a guy who manages to crash 5 planes might just be a bit of a hot shot.....that maybe his accidents were the result of a hot headed guy who likes to show off. He irritated the crap out of me when he ran in 2008 and the selection of Sarah Palin was the nail in the coffin for me. I can't respect this jerk and tonight's speech didn't help matters. I'll be glad when he is too old and feeble to hobble out on the stage to spew his hatred to an audience apparently eager to lap up the crap he serves up in his speeches.

Rant over....I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Boy, do I feel better!
