Rasmussen (!!!): Obama leads Romney by 7

In a potential Election 2012 matchup, President Obama attracts 49% of the vote and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney earns 42% (see tracking history). If Ron Paul were to be the Republican nominee, the president leads by twelve, 50% to 38%. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

But on the other hand I would not be surprised if they were inflating the numbers for the President just so the GOP could use it as a talking point for fundraising.

the republican numbers are from republican voters. I dont see a democrat voting for Mitt or Newt. And democrats are still a majority of voters. dont be spun! Get your Gearz moving.!

The trend Is Obama has opened a lead on Romney In national polls and In some battleground states.

RAS has Obama with 51 percent approvol with 48 percent disapprovol.

RAS claims Republicans lead In Generatic ballet 43 to 41 although that Is a dead heat In an election.

Even RAS can't cook the numbers for Romney.

This is primarily because of the good economic news the Country has seen.

Are you honestly on here repeating the Karl Rove talking point?

The Republican primary is little more than a Pub mudslinging machine already. If you look at history if they wanted to stand a chance in November they should be ahead of Obama at this point in time. Kerry was thrashing Bush at this point in time in 2004 and that made sense because it was Kerry who was on TV every day and Bush had not even barely begun to campaign. Kerry was 9 and 12 points up on Bush in a couple polls in February of 2004 and was no worse than tied in the bulk of them.

If Romney was going to win in November he would be 5+ points up on Obama in the polls right now, not 6-7 down.

Let me start by saying that I am a PCIPS subscriber in California and a repeal of HCR would leave me uninsured with poor health and uneligible for MediCal. So any allusions that I'm spouting Rove talking points is rubbish.
The economy is certainly improving but what is the current state? Gasoline prices have doubled since Jan 2009. Unemployment is within one pct point of record highs. Real estate values have been devastated and most peoples retirement and savings have been pounded.
And assuming the economy is improving, at what cost? Let me give an example. If my employer cuts my income by 50% but I receive a Visa card with a 100,000 credit limit and no minimum payment requirement. My household economy will be "just peachy" that year using the credit card. And the US has been using the Visa card from the Bank of China for years now.
Look around you, how many empty storefronts do you see in your local strip malls? This is NOT an economy to run a reelection campaign upon.
Scandals, manufactured and real will shadow the campaign this fall. Solyndra, Fast and Furious (which looks a lot like a scheme to present a new AWB) and more are coming soon to the public media forefront.
The Arab Spring will be spun as a Muslim extremist uprising supported by Obama. Obama's body count is nearing Shrub's indeed surpassing Shrub in Afghanistan.
The point I'm trying to make is that this is no cakewalk... This is going down to the wire.
In addition, the electoral mathematics has changed since the Census giving the traditional red states an extra 10+ electoral votes.
So whats my point? Take nothing for granted and play this thing like you are down by 5%.
I believe and hope Obama will win in the end but I believe it will be with less than 283 ev's. So the strutting and crowing at this stage is silly.

Where are you getting your facts from? It sure does sound like you get your facts from a RW source. I could take apart nearly every thing you said in your post because it is simply not factual, but I'll give you the chance to recheck what you've written and get back to me. Hint: start with unemployment being within 1% pt of record highs then move onto your RW talking point about China being our biggest creditor (2nd hint Americans are America's biggest creditor). etc etc.

You sound like a troll, but if you aren't I still suggest you do a bit of fact checking into your positions.

Obama is a frontrunner and has some momentum before he's even begun to campaign, frontrunners generate the most enthusiasm, so acknowledging he's a front runner is a good thing.

First... Stop twisting my words. I never said China was our largest creditor, those are your words, not mine.
And regarding unemployment rate... Let me rephrase. The current unemployment rate is 2.5% under the highest unemployment ever recorded.
So why do you call someone a troll just because they are a realist? I'm bookmarking this so we can have a little chat in 8 months. Mark my words... Obama by less than 15 ev's.

I'm going to sound rude as hell when you appear to have copied and pasted Karl Roves daily blog. I mean you have it all in there, made up numbers and facts, China creditor fears, Sylyndra, Fast and Furious. Post the same message on FREEP and you'll get 100 up votes in the 1st hour. Post it here and I read it and you'll get called out on it.

We have never experienced the level of SuperPAC negative ads that will saturate the media this fall. All the Repub money will bring out all Obama's negatives, the fact that he's Kenyan, Muslim, not White (and also, when it suits the occasion, not Black). And the Democratic SuperPAC will be just as terrible (but I'll enjoy it more).

I don't know how any pollster/statistician can factor in that level of newness.

They can poll on what would happen if the general election were today. But it isn't.
